Great selection. I can hardly find any local in Poland that has any choice of rum. Usualy it is Bacardi Carta Blanca or Havana Club Anejo Blanco, the latter is made for 3rd world nations (in France cheapest Havana Club is 3 Anos, 3 years one). I do like rums from Martinique and Guadelupe, not cause they are stronger, even up to 60%, but cause their fruit aroma. They are very cheap in France cause those islands are their colognies, but the only one I can get in Poland is Rhum Agricole Blanc Martinique from Carrefour for around 12.50eu bottle.

However nothing beats more than 30 years old bottle of Havana Club 3 Anos straight from Cuba. I found one in my aunt's closet, a single remnant of communism era :P

When I was buying some Vodka yo the guy at the store said I picked the best brand of Vodka. I didn't even know of it. If anyone is interested here's a picture. Please share experiences.

Haven't seen that before, but for me triple destillation is something like a minimum standard. (Which I estimate half the vodka here doesn't fulfill)

Here in Sweden we mostly drink Absolut Vodka (and all the different flavours it comes in). It isn't the BEST vodka out there, but it's definately top ten (might even be top five) for me.

I'm no expert but basically Absolut is a vodka I don't like at all. Out of all the popular "top shelf" vodkas here in eu, it burns the most for me. Theres not that much difference to me between a bottle of absolut and a €5 bottle of random Russian stuff.

Once I happened to work in UK together with certain german UT player, and on our day off we went for a stroll around London with some other coworkers. There he went for half liter Coke telling me that in every nation Coke tastes a bit different and he want to taste british one. He tried, showed upset face, looked closly and it turned out it was produced in Germany :P
On side note I once found ukrainian Coke in local shop (no idea how in the world shop owner got it) and it was delicious, best Coke I ever drank. I did some research and I think it is cause they actualy used cane sugar instead of regular white one we use in Poland and other european countries. Still we are on the better end of things than USA which uses killer HFS (High Fructose Syrup) to sweet drinks and food.

About soft drinks I like and cant get in Poland even in specialized import shops are Lucozade Lemon and something german called Aquarius I think (it was long time ago and I could find it only on east). Aside import shops there is also no way to buy fruit de la passion (passiflora, maracuja, passion fruit) or cranberry juice. Biggest issue however is that cider is completly unknown in Poland.

Its the same with meat in the USA. It tasted false.

I did expereince the best cookies and coffee while waiting for a taxi in Melo Park though. It was some bank on El Camino/Menlo Park and they let you help yourself. I thought it would be ghetto and it set a new standard. Closest I found since is Subway cookies, but these wre about twice as nice.

Yeah, it's true about the different cokes. Somehow the Chinese shops sell Polish coke here and it tastes different. Not worse or anything, but different. I tried French coke in Perpignan and it was awful though. I think water has a lot to do with it.

About Aquarius. I thought it was everywhere in Europe, at least here it's extremely popular.

I wish I didn't have to resort to import shops to buy root beer :(

Perpignan's coke was fine for me, but that was in 90s when I visited Saint Cyprien few times for holidays. Polish coke in Chinese shops in Spain sounds unbelivable, but I guess as long as it is profitable for them they will do such things :P 2 litre bottle of coke is like 1.15eu in shops here.

As for Aquarius seems like I will have to visit Spain for the first time :P I honestly like lemon flavoured things, and the only one I tasted was lemon :P

France and Belgium are listed and I havent seen it there, but I was only once in Belgium and didnt shop much. If it was in France however I would have seen it. Interesingly there is no Germany on the list :P

Heh, your post aroused my curiosity and I was just reading an article about Aquarius. It says its biggest markets are Belgium, Netherlands and Spain, which accounts for 70% of the sales in the EU (and now that I think about it that explains weird things like being able to find an isotonic drink at every bar :P).

This makes me wonder why the hell do all those countries have so many different flavours while we only have two (three if you count the coke one, which was pretty nice).

Yes, beer with lemonade actualy. In France it is sold bottled in variety of versions, I personaly liked one called Force 4. However in Poland it is completly unknown drink, and the only place you can order it is surprisingly Pizza Hut, where they make it by simply mixing beer with 7up (50 50). It is ok, but not exactly same.

In comparision in UK they are mixing beer with schweps tonic, but I warn you, by no means do not waste your beer on that.

Ah, they sell bottled beer with lemonade here too but you can go to a bar and ask for a "clara" (clear) and they'll mix it for you, it's pretty common.
