Tips for tallinn: don't go to the touristy clubs with lots of cheap skanks and stuff. Find somewhere where the locals go to party, you'll have a decent chance to find hot girls that's not prostitutes. The estonian gentlemen seems very defensive of their girls though.

well, as I said in your thread, I did enjoy it a lot, but when I am with those friends we always have fun, so... :P

Basically the city, has quite a long history and has a very old medieval center which is great to walk around in. Looks a lot like old German towns would look like if they had stayed intact.
From what I saw around the center it's not that good looing, lots of concrete appartment buildings and so on.

sO, I guess sight-seeing wise you are pretty much done after three days.

As for going out I really liked that lots of clubs and bars are in the center, so that you can easily go from on to the next one. Average day had us going to six different places (at least those I can remember :p)
In fact, we only went to one place outside the center, it's called rockcafe offered live music, which turned out to be four bands with all similar to [ur=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi7QzXt-XuA&feature=related]these[/url] (last band). It was uhm ... interesting ...
One friend who is adrummer still makes fun of the front man and his percussion :P

Anyway Estonians are friendly, walked back with a goth-couple after the concert and they shared their bottle of Jägermeister with us. people do seem to like Germans, but I think unless you are Russian they are friendly to everyone.

Prices in bars, restaurants etc are a little lower than here, but not much. On the other hand, beer and other alcohol at the supermarket is actually more expensive, not even close to Swedish levels, though. If you stay out all night, and don't try to save you can still spend 80€ per night. At least we did.

Oh and taxis are a nightmare, literally dozens of companies with sometimes only two cars and lots of different prices. Usually, the end of the night would have our friends each start calling companies they knew had good prices and after about 14 calls we had a taxi.

Oh and if you do like high heels, be warned it's cobble stones everywhere. Estonian girls all wear high-heels and mange very well, but still...


Those are my impresions in a nutshell.
Can't say it is my favorite town ever, but we enjoyed it enough to consider paying another visit this summer.
Definately, worth a look if you are in the area or have a friend to visit. (Or wanna see some good looking girls ;P)

ok awesome, sounds like what i heard about Riga too. Ryanair doesnt fly from eindhoven to there though so maybe I have to go from Germany. It just sucks that I have to go back to Holland first (for uni stuff) because the options from there are quite limited.

But thanks a lot for the impressions, €80 per night is a lot (our budget is 250 per week) and honestly since I dont know anyone there (except I guess that guy who played UT years and years ago) it wouldn't be smart for me to go alone. I definitely would like to see it though. And screw cobblestones with heels, thats insanity.

Kinda impossible to recall how many beers, longdrinks, cocktails and shots we bought with that. but let's just say around 20 were spend on food+taxi.

can't say anything about riga, except that I wanna go eventually.

Protip for Tallinn/Riga: Don't let the taxi drivers know you're a tourist, you will get ripped off like a mofo.
