I have periods of absence here on ESR so I obviously don't know everything that goes on here. Why would people ignore Jonesy?

I like him. He is obviously just enjoying the benefits of internet anonymity by not self-censoring the thoughts he shares with us. Picking controversial topics may make him come across as an attention seeking lunatic, but you can not dispute that there is a rational base and an actual problem worth discussing in a large part of his threads.

I always had the impression he was giving a rational appearance to his lunatic mind ;)

he's not really adressing problems, its just random words that by chance make a little sense.
its fun to read tho, and he isnt the kind of annoying internet troll that will answer to everything you say about his posts with insults

one other thread that comes to mind is the one in which he is looking for an idea to reduce lag in satellite communication to zero...
