my previous roommate was a chinese economist doing his phd; apparently it's the most noble profession over there. he knew all kinds of things (heidegger, for one), and was probably the most 1337. x)

considering that they take business very seriously, and considering the "party" mentality etc, it's probably a kind of treason over there x)

Physics is the last place I'd recommend a philosopher (CPL) to turn lest he wants to destroy any remaining realism/sanity he has left (if any).

Philosophy probably took the last bits of sanity from him I guess,

well, that probably isnt prohibited by any law. sure isnt right though in a sense of competition, and should be regulated

we have a lot of flaws in our financial system. there are regulations on normal citizens, on the rich, but not the super rich. there are some individuals or corporations so wealthy that they make up a good portion of the financial system, thus also influencing it to their advantage

now we could

a) create an avalanche of new laws and regulations on practices of these kinds
b) do nothing
c) go the probably hardest way and start to think if this isnt perhaps related to fiat money via the central banking system, fractional reserve banking, and all the other crazy financial instruments and practices that make frauds like this possible in the first place by enabling said individuals to use capital of those dimensions. noone can tell me that this kind of fraud could have happened on a gold standard. also one has to take a closer look at regulatory agencies like the SEC and CFTC which stand idly by while markets are manipulated in broad daylight and monopoly laws are basically broken everywhere


anyway, our world today couldnt be more orwellian

- we must fight a continuous war to achieve peace
- let's give the nobel peace prize to someone who currently conducts the biggest war on the planet
- we must take on more debt to get us out of a financial crisis caused by too much debt
- the more we spy on you and restrict your freedoms the more likely it is you are terrorists
- coČ (which is one of THE vital parts for plant and animal/human life) is bad for the planet
- we are the forefront against coČ and we just produced 41000t of coČ (the annual coČ output of morocco) in the 3, 4 days we met in copenhagen

i think if only 50 years ago you'd tell a normal citizen the things that are going on today, and tell him it's commonly accepted, he'd never believe you. but in 50 years of slow, incremental changes in that direction, we have now accepted this kind of sick behavior and are willing to let it continue, and worsen
