I personally wouldnt mind seeing four teams advance from each group, it could make some of the more promising match ups in the group phase seem less important. My jinxed predictions:

Group A:

Sweden rape their way all the way to the first place, Finland and Netherlands fight for second place. Possible upset from Ukraine.

Group B:

Four way sex with Russia coming slightly on top and UK, Denmark and Iceland pillowfighting for the second spot. Can't see any upsets coming from the underdogs, but i hope they put up a fight. Easily the most exciting group, looking forward to this one in particular.

Group C:

France dominates, Germany and Austria fight for 2nd place, with the possibility of Lithuania pissing on their heads. Looks like the most boring group, but i hope for some solid e-drama when Germany and Austria play.

Group D:

Poland, Italy and Hungary fighting for the first place, Spain and Czech Rep. doing their best to cause an upset but falling short OH NOES.

I hope there won't be any dropouts or shit like that, and it all goes smoothly. Good luck to the underdogs in particular, i hope you take a dump on my predictions to make this cup even more exciting. :)

Maybe so. Iceland tried it with d3sp if I remember correctly, because he has an Icelandic parent or something. Needless to say it got the team thrown out of the tournament. If d1ablo has played for any other team than Austria in a NC he really shouldnt be allowed to participate under that flag.

Because I think they I remember the admins in CB talking about how it was allowed to play for a different nation as long as you had not played for it in the same team mode. Like if d1ablo played for Germany in CTF he could play for another nation in TDM. But would always be stuck to playing for Germany as a CTF player.

the reason given made no sense at all - it was a suggestion on the qlive forums by some newbie who feared the cpma style dm7 mg cess.

well, with stronger rockets, no cripple effect, stronger shotgun, weaker rail - this cess problem was remedied for QL, although the shotgun is still a bit too strong and a simple spread alteration would be the best solution - never-the-less, it is a great shame that such non-sensical changes are made to tried and tested maps. it's not like at the point of the change they were even doing it for competition...they were only doing it for newbies. so let me get this straight, newbies are scared of coordinated team cess on publics? what?

regarding dm6, i believe they messed the balance up a bit by switching the shaft with the plasma, but i won't get into that.

agreed, they made dm7 possibly even worse than it was before. I still love that map actually, I just don't like 20mins of ffa on it =(

i'd love to see how it would play with the all the weapon alterations and removal of cripple. it wouldn't be efficient to mg cess like in cpma, and there would be a balance between secondary and primary. with the sg being so strong the quad would actually be usable again as well :-o. it's a good map imo! maybe some bias as it was the uk home map for all these years though, but since the cpma changes we became stronger on dm14 as the teamplay element still remained strong there despite the insane mg.

well our strongest four right now: deus ddk 2gd rax - definitely a good team if we get some games in, if you swap rob out for rax, and I would say rax is better (although rob has loooots of experience) - it's the same line-up we used to get to the semi-finals before, to lose 2-3 to sweden. i think it was the first dm6 in history a uk team won vs swe =).

but it's uncertain whether 2gd will be active, or if he will even be able to play the officials. i hope he can, cause with our best team we can definitely get top4. no sign of Vorv though, he went all Mist on us and just disappeared, I think he was ill for a bit and we've heard nothing from him since.
