What is wrong with dm6? I don't like the map for duel, but I don't duel enough to really know the intricacies of why it isn't good.

Because it's more aim based, and there's only 1 YA. Hard to comeback without cypher/strenx/toxic aim. And some others reasons.

If you go 5 maps, IMO, you can either leave out T7, and leave out the classic T4, or you can have a stagnant map pool by including T4, and leaving T7 out.

Moving to a 7 map pool and including CA2 fixes that.

Eh, if they go with the standard drop until X maps remain format, adding maps (even shitty ones) won't hurt anything. If t4/ca2 are really so terrible, then surely they won't be played.

If they stick with the "modern" format, they could use every map in the game and nothing bad would happen aside from wasted map dropping time.

If they were to go with the "classic" pick-pick-drop X, then yes, bad maps in the pool would be ugly. Imagine J Random Quaker picks qzctf1.

Players eliminate maps that they have least chance to win, not the maps that are generally bad and because of that, horrible maps like ca2 will still be played sometimes.

I think we should push for the standard 5 map pool, but maybe this tournament we can experiment? We should use the standard map pool that ESL uses, but maybe change it up a bit.

Swap DM6 with T4? Any other ideas?

do you HAVE to have a standard 5 map pool? if/when we get 2/3 new maps would people be opposed to having a rotation of some sort on the 5th slot between all the classic maps that have been dropped? might make things more interesting.

Well I'm pretty sure no one really LIKED the idea of a seven map pool, due to the fact that CA2 was there. Lots of people like T4, and lots of people hate DM6. It's not the end of the world that there is a seven map pool, but I think most people want a five map pool.

I think the options are pretty clear, first, throw ca2 out, then either go for a 6 map pool or a 5 map pool without t4/dm6.

They should have 2 categories of maps (old/new). Then for each match there is a coin-flip. The winner picks the first map, but the loser of the coin-flip picks what category the winner must pick from (old/new). Then the roles are reversed for the second map pick. The third map is randomly chosen from the remaining maps.

ex. Cooller vs fox

Fox wins the coin flip. Cooller selects old category. Fox selects ZTN. Fox selects new category. Cooller selects T9. Third random map is T4.

ex. Rapha vs Noctis

Rapha wins coin flip. Noctis picks new category. Rapha picks T7. Rapha picks new category. Noctis picks Ca2. Random third map is DM13
