Thanks..for some reason I can't uncheck Use Extended Display on mine

Got the extended display to uncheck, I had a bugged 10.1. Now I only see 85hz as the max even with reforce. I'm going to try 9.12

Enabling +85hz on a CRT in Win7 (Catalyst 9.12)

1) Uncompress the drivers in a folder.

2) Locate a file called cx_92915.inf

3) Inside that file locate a section named: [ati2mtag_Evergreen_SoftwareDeviceSettings]

4) Scroll down until you find this part..

HKR,, DALNonStandardModesBCD3, %REG_BINARY%,18,56,13,92,00,00,00,00

Now you have to add 8 sequences of 2 digit numbers for every resolution/frequency you need.

First couple is the horizontal resolution, the second is the vertical resolution, third is (I suppose) color bitplanes and fourth is the refresh rate.

For example, if you want 800x600 at 120 hz and a 1024 x 768 at 100 hz you will add this pairs..

(bpp) 00,00,
(hz) 01,20

(xres) 10,24,
(yres) 07,68,
(bpp) 00,00,
(hz) 01,00

Obtaining something like that:

Save the modified file in the same directory with the same name (CX_92915.inf)

05) Uninstall the Catalyst drivers you have (Spyre wrote you can modify windows register directly but there are a lot of duplicates, very difficult to spot and modify every couple that way)

06) Reboot. Reinstall Catalyst drivers the usual way, launching setup.exe manually from the directory you created at point 01 (to use the modified *.inf). I choosed a custom installation and installed everything except Catalyst Control Center (it's crap in XP, quite bugged)

07) Reboot as requested.

08) Install Ray Adams' ATI Tray Tools 1.6.9.1464 beta

Now you can set any desktop resolution with the refresh rate you put in the *.inf file.

You can then use Ati Tray Tools "Lock Refresh" function to create a group of custom resolutions with custom refresh rates and finally set the option "refresh rate override" in the 3d section as "same as desktop" to get correct refresh rate in games too."

This (seems) to work with Catalyst 10.1 as well. I can get 800x600 at 120hz in Windows. But I can't seem to get anything over 60 in Quake :|

I didn't get the ATI Tray Tools however, I installed them and had to by pass the driver signature with some program and it caused a bluescreen when I rebooted windows. Not sure where to go to from here..

Edit: Read somewhere that I could try checking "Disable Overclocking" in the setup, worked like a charm :)

Yeah I also hade this BSOD-issue but solved it by disabling the overclocking features during the installation of ATI Tray Tools, just like you did!

keep trying to get that to work. Enable driver signature..
ati tools is the only way to force it in game

Yea, are you using Test Mode?
