I haven't posted on this site on a long time but I wanted to share an unfortunate experience involving id Software's web store.
http://www.idsoftware.com/store/
Some of you may recall an event being posted on this site about a throwback tournament for RtCW. Well that is my favorite multiplayer game so I made a team and entered the tournament.
I ordered a copy of the game from id's web store. The game is a digital download so I downloaded it and installed it. HOWEVER, my receipt said my cd-key would be sent by e-mail from websales@idsoftware.com.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Serial Number: Error: id Software (websales@idsoftware.com) will e-mail your serial number to you soon.
So I figured hmm, no problem. I'll probably just receive it in a day or so. It has now been 9 DAYS and I have not received anything.
I e-mailed websales@idsoftware twice which is the only given e-mail on the site. I was polite in the first e-mail but in the second one I was getting angry and remarked how they have very poor customer service. I even used 2 separate e-mail accounts (Yahoo and Gmail) in case it was being sent to to the junk email of whatever idiot is in charge of web sales.
I then e-mailed SyncError (syncerror@idsoftware.com) this past Friday explaining the situation. I know this isn't really the area he works in, nevertheless he works for id Software and I thought maybe he would be able to help. I was polite in my e-mail but have not received a response from him either.
I am now certain id Software has no intention of ever e-mailing my cd-key which makes me unable to play online. I consider this fraud. They basically stole $20 from me.
I just thought I would relay this story to the readers of this site so they don't get screwed as I did. And a big FUCK YOU goes out to id Software. I personally plan on never purchasing any of their games again.
