One of the few american series that is bound to get a real ending. That's quite rare in american tv since their tv culture is beyond retarded as viewer numbers dictate everything.

The legacy of american tv is the desperate attempt to extend the run of the series for as long as possible with no regard to the viewers or the integrity of the show, resulting in bullshit cancellations of series, to a cliffhanger in the worst case. Lost has had a definite end in season 6 for years. Apparently for other series makers it's too hard to create alternate endings in case of cancellation.

Yeah I'm a little butthurt over a lot of good series simply disappearing because the tv station figured they can get 0.1 increase in nielsen ratings - meaningless statistics that don't even take into account proper viewership - by replacing it with another series bound to face the same fate in a few years' time.

castle & dollhouse are 2 shows i keep telling myself to start watching but never get around to it :(

I stopped dollhouse after season one, I never got hooked anyway (my roomate continues though) Pretty girls ftw I guess :P

Castle is ok, can make me smile from time to time, but it's nothing special and doesn't make me look forward to that next episode or anything.

Still, I watched Lost for the first series. I lost interest when it became a never-ending soap opera with stupider plots, riddle with sub-plots and sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-su.........b-plots. I can see they want to make money out of it, but cummon, you milk that cow anymore and it'll be anemic

i remember towards the beginning the writers claimed everything could be explained scientifically :D

I'm not so sure about the "everything", but yeah.

but to be honest, i never really saw the science behind it as real-life science but rather as LOST science with the occasional real-life reference thrown in.

So from my point of view, the numbers have already been explained "scientifically".

also: the dialogue-scene with jack and locke at the airport was fucking brilliant! :E

It's still good, just it hasn't felt like "Lost" for a long time and instead some weird show with the same characters and setting.

Season 1 & 2 are barely comparable to 4, 5 & (probably) 6.

I blame ABC, who panicked when some people started calling it "boring" during S2 the first 6 episodes of S3 and cut the length of the seasons and told them it had to be finished within X seasons.

So they wrote in all these answers, killed off characters and made a load of ridiculous things up.

No, i think the wanted a fixed ending right from the start.

They clearly didn't, there's an interview out there with a writer for another show where he describes a meeting he had with some TV people and the Lost writers were there and told them they didn't have a plan at all and just wanted to let it take them wherever it did.

Well, anyway. Doesn't really bother me at all, since i think that LOST is the best show ever from Season 1-6. so i don't care.

I didn't say it was bad, it's just lost it's way, it still shits on most of the crap on TV and the characters, script, music etc is all top notch.

I can't be bothered to find the source, it was from the guy who wrote defying gravity (or something like that, was part funded by the BBC).

In season 1 episode 1, the stewardess offers jack 2 bottles of alcohol (vodka). 1 he drinks, 1 he uses to clean his wounds after the crash.

In S06E01 she hands him 1.

It might be as simple as they couldn't get the actress. But like inkind said things are changed in the AR, every character is slightly different than they should be.

I think they are trying to show the past is sort of like the future. There is a shitload of alternative pasts that may have led to the same present moment, just like there is a shitload of alternative futures the present moment can evolve into.

they have a really nice opportunity to end dexter with season 5, hopefully it'll be centered around the downfall of dexter as people close to him slowly start picking up on things from the last few years, and that he'll probably be a suspect in Rita's murder

as much as I love dexter, i feel if they don't end it with season 5 it'll go the prison break route and just be AWFUL, it needs to go out on a high

I totally agree. The ending of season 4 was drastic and bold.
Must be a turning point for sure, I can't see a season 6, it must have some kind of closure with the coming season.

Well the series is ruined for me and I'll never watch it (only saw pilot yet) if dexter is caught. Typical good guys wins bullshit. Hate it.

Doesn't have to be caught, might have to disappear/run away or something. I just can't see how they can still maintain some sense of "reality" and still have him killing people in Miami with nobody thinking it suspicious. (Which would make sense if you had seen up to this point.)

And I fear moving to a new city and just starting to kill people all over again would just be boring/a cop out. There has to be closure.

ah prisonbreak. i enjoyed the first season and the first half of the second season was somewwhat bearable aswell.

i think i watched upto the point where all the main characters were in some mexican horror prison, which was completely over the top.

also there was some bad ass conspiracy going on and everyone was involved.

The problem with these long-running drama shows is that they're typically shit, but people grow to love each character over watching the series year-after-year that they wouldn't realize how shitty/boring the show actually is.
