What dpi/windows sensitivity are you running at? I had the exactly same problem in that video when using a higher dpi/low windows sens in some games. As soon as I went 400dpi 6/11 it fixed itself. Not entirely sure why either

I would have guessed no, but I just tested and yes, my new QCK makes the G500 have a lower maximum tracking speed compared to other pads. There is very heavy negative acceleration when swiping quickly. The Puretrak talent is better but it still gives negative acceleration at higher speeds. On my steelseries 4HD i cannot get the G500 to produce any negative acceleration, even while swiping as fast as i possibly can.



This is horrible news to me because i prefer the control of soft pads instead of the slick hard pads like the steelseries 4HD.

Exactly what mine does if you swipe really fast. You either have to raise your sensitivity to the point where you won't be making those fast swipes, buy a hard mouse pad like the 4HD or 9HD or get a new mouse. My 1800DPI deathadder has a higher maximum tracking speed then my G500 on the Qck.

The funny thing is that my deathadder even has a foggy piece of scotch tape over the sensor to lower the lift off distance, yet it still tracks better then the G500 on soft mouse pads.

thats my video in the first post. and youre right about it being a problem related to the qck+ since it tracks perfectly on my wooden table aswell. shouldve tested that more properly before i made that review :\

pretty embarrasing for me since i declared it was a g500 issue and basically said its the worst mouse ever because of it. but at the same time im happy because it means i can use it.

now i just need to find a good hard mousepad that is huge or make my own out of wood.

Yeah, a little bit of positive acceleration is something I can deal with until there is a fix, but tracking THIS bad on a pretty widely used surface boggles my mind. I would imagine it's not much better if better at all on any other cloth pad. I usually play at around 26cm/360 which isn't even really low and it screws up in game a LOT. When it's not just straight stopping, the cursor is unpredictable and jittery. Other wise, I love the shape and feel of the mouse and am torn between getting a new pad or sending it back. Also, I picked up another one to test today at BestBuy and it had the same issue, so I don't believe that it's simply a bad sample. I'm really curious to know whether the Xai and g9x have the same problem. If they are indeed using the same sensor, I don't see how they couldn't. I would love for someone to post some kind proof that their Avago9500 based mice works correctly on the QCK's.

The positive acceleration problems actually dissappear aswell when i use it on my table (dark, hard wood)
so it tracks 100% perfectly on my wooden table, but on the qck+ i get all of these fucked up acceleration problems. its really weird but hey my tests confirm it :\

Wait actually after doing some more, more accurate tests on wood it seems that the positive acceleration is still there, however it is impossible to get any negative acceleration or skipping on wood. I did the tests on plastic aswell and I got the exact same results on plastic as I did on wood.

I made the tests vs the mx518 with the same DPI settings to make sure I wasn't accidently moving the G500 further when I moved it fast. With the mx518 it's always consistent, with the G500 I get positive accel.

been using the g9x same sensor? on the SteelSeries SX and the tracking is a lot better than on my cloth.

Any update on alternative pads here? I'm also very interested. Just wanted to buy the G500 / QcK+ combo but your review MikeHaggarKJ has prevented me from doing so.

Now I'm in a dilemma. Still buy the mouse but get another mousepad (something soft, no plastik), or switch to the old (new??) DA and keep the QcK+.

I would be really glad for any advice, both on different pads for the G500 or the DA QcK+ combo.

At the moment, I'm using my trusted old MX510 but one of the feet is missing an I thought it would be a good time to replace it.

mx510 is great, buy replacement feet and stick with that.

you get the positive acceleration no matter what mousepad you're using. it's just the skipping and negative acceleration that is mousepad dependent.
if you want to get a new mouse get the mx518 instead it's way way better.

Okay, I will follow your advice and go with my old Mx510. If it breaks before there are many new options on the market, I will get an Mx518.

Just to be sure: The Mx510 / 518 track well on the QcK+, right? In your video it seemed that way, but I would appreciate you confirming it :)
