No and no. Trash talking, cheekyness and general arrogance has nothing to do with whether someone is a good sportsman or not. I think you're confusing sportsmanship with unrelated traits of character.

You're confused again. Etiquette is not sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is acting with a good understanding of the spirit of the game, and following through with decisions based on said spirit rather than strict rules. You can be a cunt and a good sportsman at the same time.

Maybe I should take the baby steps approach, maybe you might get the point here.

1. cooller gets the award for being a good sportsman (fair play award)
2. cooller talks trash resulting in av3k being pissed off (which obviously was his intension)
3. av3k and cooller go on it for about a minute or two
4. admin steps in because the trash talk get's so intense he might do something drastic(penalty points, or maybe ban)

So, he should not had made that comment because;
He KNEW av3k would be pissed off at it, and he also KNOWS av3k plays bad when he is angry. This is a behaviour that can result in penalty points if it get's too intense, which it did get. An admin should NEVER have to step in like this. This is close to rule braking, and a good sportsman knows this. That is also why 2gd made a joke about cooller is gonna go smoke even if the admins told him no, and light his sportsmanship award in the process.

Sportsmanship is also know as fair play. Agreed?
I have never heard of a player in sports getting an award for fair play when he is showing disrespect to his/her opponent.
Cooller was dissing av3k, no question about it. That alone isn't worthy a fair play award.

He did deserve that award considering what happened at the euro championship, no question about it.

Here in lays the problem, fair play is showing respect and goodwill towards your opponent.

Making yourself come out on top, is NOT fair play.
Making yourself have an advantage is NOT fair play.

You're missing the point so hard it hurts to read what you're typing: trash talking is NOT an element of a game that you can abuse/refuse to abuse. Trash talking is NOT a paragraph of rules you can bend for your own convenience to hinder/help your opponent.

Being a bad sportsman, or behaving unfairly is cheating, trying to cheat, using rules to your advantage in a situation when your opponent is in some kind of trouble and you could opt to help him out instead, and generally using every little clean and dirty trick you can get your hands on to get ahead, regardless of how it makes you look like. It has nothing to do with respect or the lack of thereof (although it might seem otherwise), or even showing it.

You really think everyone who gets a fair play award is universally respectful and never, ever, insulted, trash talked or dissed an opponent? Don't be a moron.

Alright, let me just show what i mean, for clarity's sake and so i don't look like i'm rambling. A football player might be, generally, a dick, slightly disrespecting the ref and his opponents and all, but when push comes to shove and one of the guys on the other team gets battered and falls down, he will kick the ball out, see if he's alright and help him get up.

Despite his rough attitude he's still a good sportsman.

That doesn't make any sense. Either you're a good sportsman or not, and while there are of course varying levels of that (Henman > *), you can't be a good and a bad one at the same time.

Your footballer is showing signs of good and bad sportsmanship. In these cases you have to look at the situations in context, as some people act sporting only when in the spotlight or it benefits certain parties. So i still say, yes and no. Ultimately it's a no, but you know.

But why does it have to be so black and white? I don't get it. No man ever can be the perfect sportsman, we're just humans, we get carried away, swept by a torrent of anger when we're full of adrenaline if something doesn't go our way.

Why do you deprive this imaginary footballer of his, clearly, good intention based only on a few slights he uttered while under emotional stress? It should all be based on a case to case basis, there are magnitudes of insults, and only the most horrible should out weight any good the man could otherwise had done. Is Federer any less a good sportsman if he mutters "jerk" at a referee that erroneously judged a ball against him?

Let's keep the context of such events in mind, as well. You could say that someone who insults people with no motive can never honestly be consider good sports, and you'd be right. But let's look at the context in which Cooller uttered his provocation - he and Avek have some bad blood flowing between them, and stuff like that is to be expected. It wasn't even a grave insult, or even a serious one - he just sarcastically remarked about a situation they both are guilty of creating. Accusing tone aside, you have to be a real hater to consider Anton less of a good sportsman just for that alone, just like you'd have to consider Federer for a just curse or my imaginary footballer for allowing his emotions to get the better of him.

Let's not forget that during Rapha's interview by Carmac, he specifically asked Rapha if cooller's "cussing" during games bothered him and Rapha was like "even with these noise canceling headsets, yes!"

It's unruly behavior. Cooller's not the only one who is high on adrenaline during games. Rapha is calm and composed and hardly ever resorts to name calling or in-game trash talk. Fatal1ty's famous "woohoo, c'mon!" after a game is a testament that you can convey your excitement without offending your opponent.

You do talk about what cooller said but don't mention av3k's reply anywhere which seemed to be more along the lines of "so this is how you choose to say hello to me?" It just shows the state of mind he was in.

Nothing really happened it's again ESR making a big deal out of nothink and imagining stuff.

nah, they really did not look too fond of each other before the game and right after.
For example some looks they gave each other on the stage.

But it also didn't look like something that can't be worked out, which they said they did.

Well, at least its clear that they will get over it way sooner then ESR.

Breathtaking t7/t9/dm13 -- can't believe how many sub-10h scrambles/evasions Cooller pulled off, how much his "sneaky +walk/creep around corners" then explode into a "full-tits-on-double-barreled" offensive frenzy, then just as quickly reverting back into stealth mode and off his opponent's radar, awaiting the next pounce...amazing.

i also really enjoyed these 3 maps more then any other in the tourney ,,,..very impressive :)
