You can deal with squeaking. All you have to do is to oil part of button where there is friction plastic vs plastic.



That dust is result of that friction. One drop of oil = fixed.

To disassemble salmosa you have to remove big mouse foot, so you wont lose warranty (no need to damage the label).

Buttons after such "operation" should remain perfectly silent for years.

I think the lift distance is way too high, I hear you can fix it with tape. Also, if you are using winXP for instance, and the annir fix, you get 1-1 movement, but only if you have the windows mouse sense on the 6th pin. 800 dpi is still too much for the 6th pin, im pretty sure that if you use drivers like razer drivers and change the sens there, instead of in windows, the 1-1 movement wont be affected.

the button part is too low, not much place to hold. Otherwise the mouse is rly good, perfect control speed and correction are fine

You're not supposed to palm it - it's a claw grip mouse.

I got both the Salmosa and the Abyssus, both mice perform fine for me but I feel way more comfortable with the Abyssus because of the slightly different shape of the upper case.

I'd consider picking up an Abyssus instead if you're interested in the Salmosa.

Ive been thinking about the abyssus, but it to me it looks like the sides are to small so that your ringfinger wouldnt fit anywhere. (i dont like to rest my ringfinger on the second mouse button)

Also for me the 3.5g deathadder jittered uncontrollably on my qck+. Do you know any cloth pads that work well with the 3.5g sensor?

Qpad CT(hybrid one) is prolly the best option for a swedish guy
out of all clothpads only goliathus/mantis control works well with 3.5g and they kinda suck
and qpad ct is way better than clothpads imo friction/tracking/anything else wise , only minus is it's durability(3 months max), but being swedish they must cost nothing there for you,

The bottom case of the Salmosa and Abyssus are the exact same the only difference is the sensor and the upper case of which I find the Abyssus' one way more comfortable, especially the buttons are better.

I got an razer goliathus speed cloth pad and it works absolutely fine here but also tested it on a razer mantis control and roccat taito which both worked perfectly fine too.

//edit: I forgot to tell you about the feet, my Salmosa came with teflon feet and the Abyssus with plastic feet. I heard from a friend that razer makes you buy teflon feet extra now which kinda sucks. I put the Salmosa feet on the Abyssus and it feels much better.

Ye guess you're right but still it doesn't glide as well as the white feet and they're a lot louder.

yea, works fine, has lower lift-off, but sometimes doesnt track on fat/wet spots so you really gotta clean every 10 minutes while gaming :p

do you play it with the stock feet or custom ones? heard that the stock ones scratch on the icemet/i-2. true?

it's an entry level mouse made by razer... built quality is suspect :p

the sensor is very good, the buttons are squeaky and the lift off distance is (too) high. overall the mouse seemed 'uneven' to me and wobbled from side to side at times. this led to the mouse sometimes 'scraping' along the pad.

in the end i ditched it because the shape isn't for me.

the good:
nice shape, perfect lift off distance for me, nice shape, black, nice sensor (no skipping or accel probs for me)

the bad:
squeaky buttons, MOUSEWHEEL (fucking rubber shit around the goddamn wheel getting loose) fckign annoying

all in all the good prevails, a nice mouse

Also, the Razer Krait is a good alternative.

Haven't seen them being sold anywhere recently. I know their still listed but so many out of stock. Looks like it went the way of the Copperhead in the UK :(

im certainly not a fan of razers oversensitive mouse buttons, they dont spring up back as quickly as the mouse buttons of other mice i feel. when i had the DA for a few days I had to lower the sensitivity of my double click in windows :\

I got the same problem with my old diamondback which has a similar shape. Mouse2 just kept going off like super sensitive. Even if I wasn't pressing the fecker. Maybe was something to do with when I pressed Mouse1 the buttons were stuck to each other or some shit like that, but I moved on from that and went to the deathadder.

The only mice I can use which don't have those 'full' buttons (that is, no real buttons but part of the case, like a Logitech of the Xai) are the 3.0 and 1.1

Diamondback is bigger than the Krait. And i have large hands, maybe its that.

investigate 10€ on a wmo and dont look back. You wont regret it for sure!

Already tried it, not a bad mouse but the negative acceleration killed me (even at 500hz)

i know its higher then most "gaming mice" but ive been so spoiled by my mx518 over the years

Actually I think I'll stick to my mx518, the scrolling wheel is half broken but oh well. It could be lower and a bit lighter, but its also not stupidly big or TO heavy like so many mice are these days. And it has all the performance I need. :)

you wont notice neg. accel unless you are using a sensitivity which is just too low ;)
quake cant be played properly with a low sensitvity so it doesnt matter for me

Abyssus is superior to the Salmosa in every regard.

ive never heard off a salmosa jittering like the abyssus.
i know it doesnt happen on all pads, but i dont feel like getting a new one. especially when just a salmosa will cost roughly a third of what an abyssus+a new pad will. and i dont like plastic pads anyway.

MORE prediction meaning that it snaps the mouse into a straight line even if you're actually moving the mouse quite a few degrees below/above a straight line.
Example: A mouse with a little bit of prediction will snap the mouse into a straight line if you're drawing it in a 86 degree angle, but not at a 85 degree angle (as an example). A mouse with alot of prediction will snap the mouse into a straight angle at 80 degrees, but not 79 degrees (again an example).

I actually bought it just now, the prediction isn't bad at all. Not worse then the mx518 atleast.
At first at 1800 dpi it had some very serious jittering issues on my qck+, but when I changed the dpi to 800 the problem dissappeared :)

high lod was fixed by putting a piece of scotch tape over the sensor, like many people here have suggested. amazingly enough it doesnt affect performance.
the max perfect control speed is incredible, im not able to get any negative accel in game ever or not even in my testing.

the scroll wheel is great, very light/easy to click and it doesnt have that disgusting high pitch click of the scroll of my mx518.

this little beast is amazing. i love it. FINALLY i made a mouse purchase im happy with. :)
