A long shot but does anyone have any information on this? Im trying to put the deathadder into a wingman, so far I have this: Pic 1 Pic 2
but cant do any soldering until im sure :/ May end up being a long time until I figure it out i guess!
What you might want to do is to visit some forum for people who make portable versions of various game consoles.
Example of what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPRtAd3SCHc
People who do that kind off stuff should be much more able to help you than most people here.
However I don't know of any such forums but you should be able to find some since theres tons of people doing that stuff (judging from youtube atleast)
BTW nice project. Makes me wish I didn't return any of my Deathadders! Putting that in the shell off a generic dell mouse would've been sweet.

Yeah thats why i'm asking on here, I've seen someone comment on here somewhere that theyre using an 1800dpi deathadder in a wingman, was hoping he'd reply :P
Get a tester and marks whats where. The switches are basically the same, so just figure what cable goes where on the wingman and the pin that connects the optical board and buttons in the DA
frankly, i didn't build it. i just gave the mice to an electrician i know and he did the job. i'll ask him about this, maybe he got a diagram. anyway it's very similar to the old "viftman" guide for making a wingman with intelli optics. that's the one to the right in my pics, the deathadder wgm on the left. i have the original guide by "w3ve" on my disc and have to upload it since the original site died, here's a newer one: http://www.brinkie.org/wingman/wingman.html
ok, it's one .mht file to open with internet explorer (that's how i archived it back then), it's in swedish but includes the pictures you need i hope.
it's hard to place DA hardware anywhere since it's one of rare mice with main buttons placed on additional small board made for mousewheel, 2shell didnt use it for ime3.0 mod exactly because of this reason
from what i've measured and wanted to perform myself - you can put the internals of Roccat Kova into the shell of WMO which would be a nearly perfect mouse
actually I think thats the bonus with the DA. since the wingman is fairly unique in its 3 button placement design, it needs an optical that doesnt have its own buttons on main board so it can attach to the pre-existing wingman chipboard buttons.
Its just wiring the DA board up to the wingman button board that is my problem.. :P
Yea, you need either a full board with the buttons and the optical thing on one level and attached to a single board, or its a major headache to actually align this and that.
Thats why its difficult to amke anythin from DA that will need a scroll wheel later on.
that's true. you can see in my pic above showing both mice that the old version (the intelli wgm) has the sensor deeper inside the shel than the sensor of a standard 3.0. it still scans reliably on a cloth pad, but barely works on a plain table, which isn't a problem with the original mouse. the middle button needs the intelli drivers to work in games.
hence the upgrade to the deathadder version. razer drivers are needed only for setting the dpi here (i use 900 dpi, 500 hz) and the sensor is perfectly aligned just like in a standard mouse.
not having a wheel is the only thing i don't like about it. i don't use the wheel in games anyway, but i miss it for browsing and working. so i have a salmosa plugged in another usb port. of course the salmosa is great for gaming too, just its lift-off distance (about 4 mm on the puretrak talent) is way too high for my taste.
anyway, according to this post by a logitech manager there won't be an updated version soon.
I really wish logitech made a mouse with the g9 shape that had a decent sensor and didn't weigh 3 tons.
Its pretty much the only fingertip/claw mouse that has side buttons that don't get in the fucking way through being on both sides
