That might actually not be a bad situation for you. If you win the qualifier, the ESWC Germany organiser is going to pay for your trip and accommodation in Paris. If you were invited to the event directly, you'd have to pay for the trip, not sure about the accommodation, though.

That's probably why the players that were invited had to accept the invitations first.

We had a funny situation of this kind here, in Poland. The defending 2008 counter-strike champions actually wanted to reject the invitation in order to participate in the qualifier. But, the qualifier organiser has forbidden them to participate and, therefore, the only way for them to play in the grand final is to accept the invitation and travel there on their own. But, that's a bit of a different situation, they would easily win the qualifier denying any other Polish team to participate in the grand final.

Spart1e was in the finals against rapha for the ESWC Masters of Athens. He knocked the unbeatable cypher out of the tourney and the match could have gone his way or rapha's. Do you remember QuakeCon 2009? Spart1e was pulling insane upsets! He got to the final there too. Spart1e also won a lot of online tourneys for Zotac i believe? Or maybe g data

ESWC has a new owner. Unfortunately for the brand, it is the same person that was the organiser of some other LANs that were one of the biggest fails in history :/

But, at least the cash seems secure this year.
