If China would stop being so afraid of invasion, they could take over the world of video-games. You never see Chinese flags here, because their government limits internet-access.

I would think, if China was online, Japan would also be more active. Japan is so far away from any active gaming-community, it makes it difficult for them to participate.

there are actually quite a few superb chinese players (like F91, PJ, JayStar, LX) but with their latency and packetloss to europe its pretty much impossible to play with/against them - even to the US server its really bad

Korea doesn't count as being active, because they are so internalized... same problem as Japan... too far away from active online communities.

If China would get involved, the whole region would be enabled.

See, you've got Japan and Korea separated by the Pacific ocean and China/themiddleeast/India. And then you've got South Africa separated by Africa. And then Brazil separated by the rest of South America and Mexico. But if China liberated internet access, you then have an Asian region, a European and the United States (plus a little of Canada). Plus, the Chinese are perfect for gaming. They could even start with Quake Live... it's free, after-all, and the tech is 11 years-old, so practically any computer can run it full-speed.
