weird that after so many generations of mice using this coating, razer still hasnt managed to produce anything that does not wear off after a year. but maybe they dont mind, as it forces people to buy a new one

I don't even sweat, but that thing was ridiculous. Somehow managed to get slippery at the sides. If anything they should have just used that top coating on the whole thing.

Nah, it's the bits in the side buttons. Those tiny cracks build up shit for some reason. I wash my hands before playing, don't sweat and somehow it manages to get slippery and have gunk in between the cracks. Don't have that problem with the wmo, mx518, 3.0 or xai so I guess it's just the coating of the DA :P

It would be a solution, but for most people constistence is most important. Whats the point of getting replacement mouse, if coating will start to peel off again, which will be worse and worse over time.

I've found interesting "fail by razer" browsing old blueprints threads. There was that cord holder by razer, named Armadillo. What is funny (or rather sad), is that they have failed even with this one, a steel weight. How is it possible? Simple piece of steel without any moving parts. Razer can fail:

User reported that pic, after few months his armadillo started to rust, due to humidity in his room.. The marks is rust transfered through mouse cord on his mousepad. They didn't use stainless steel, so we have results. Anyway I lowered my expectations when it comes to product quality, if you think about armadillo, coating is not that bad :)

I've been using an Armadillo II for about 6 months now without any rusting. You should be talking about the newest version not the old one.

The fact that they had to rerelease it, doesn't make it any less embarassing for razer.

Oh wait they didn't and they're a very successful company. Oh and the primary differences of the new version had nothing to do with a better coating sweetie.

Hey man. Just recieved the Armadillo 2, and I noticed something weird.

Besides it not coming with any sort of instructions, it's lacking the base, I mean this:

Wtf. I can see the screwdriver, there is a hole in the middle. This is kinda ridiculous. I guess this is not normal and Razer forgot to add the base, right? Fucking chinese can't build for shit.

RMA'd it, just recieved the new one. Guess what: Same fucking thing. Amazing. And I told them to open the box and check it before sending a new one.

Besides that, how are you supossed to use the thing? I put the cable on there and press the button, but it doesn't get in, I have to press. It's like if it was designed for a thiner cable. Im using a WMO 1.1a. It can fit, but it's not very comfortable to put the cable and remove it. It takes a bit until it fits. The fuckers probably designed it for Razer mouse only. I hope the cable doesn't break up or something, it's a bit too tight.

I just ordered a can with that paint, and didn't use a primer because it would melt the plastic .

So it was a can with sprayer?

with sprayer, actually 2 cans - the colour + the shiny finish - both meant for cars.

i tried fixing it with my 8year old logitech and it worked fine.

Depends, people tend to pay for it if it is Ms mice (zowie, se ect). Glossy is glossy, doesn't matter if it is paint or just plastic.

Yeah but those gloss paint jobs are decent. The deathadder's sides are just grease factories.

If they make it a decent finish, then maybe they stand a chance, otherwise meeeeh~

I did this to my G5 and G9. Basically I took 400 to 2000 grit sand paper to it. Very smooth finish, and you can polish/buff it, if you want it shinny.

what kind of paint did you use? how is the feel?

I used spray paint, then a clear coat. It feels a bit sticky, and glossy. Personally I don't like it.

It is a rubberized spray adhesive and it works great. It also comes in clear in case you dont want to change your mouse's look.

I use my DA for 1.5 - 2 years and rubber coating is still in mint condition.

interesting. I always thought how rubber coating is great,and howit would be awesome to have it on sides as well.

I repainted a Razer mouse a couple of months ago and just used fine sandpaper to get the rubber bullshit off.

I know this is old, but for somebody in need, just use a microfiber cloth and a glass cleaning liquid. Spray the cleaner on the cloth & the mouse, and rub the mouse surface with the cloth.

My Razer Abyssus surface had terribly worn out, and now it's smooth matte-finish plastic.
