wasnt long, 30s maybe
well its quite common to see yourself in the server browser cause it lag behind. but until now it was always skill matched
funny how a close dm6 that was anyones game until the final seconds can make me go up in the retarded skill ranking system
say there is a point system with steps of one hundred point separating different levels, whcih decide the "skill lower/matched/higher". You had 1198 before and then gained three points, making you reach the higher level.
Maybe they don't have numbers like I proposed but calculate a changing skilllevel, through some other way.
Or maybe it's something different, like new levels get only calculated every day or so.
maybe the servers skill is estimated as a mean of all players on the server and updates once every minute.
you played an opponent weaker than yourself.. the servers skill is estimated as beneath your own skill.. when you leave the server.. the server skill-level isnt updated yet resulting in the display showing it as below you skilllevel.
Even empty servers have skill levels set to them - i.e. even if you list only empty servers without any players, some of them will still be skill matched, some will be "your skill higher", etc. This skill level changes to your level when you join a server, but I assume when you disconnect, it goes back to what it was before. So probably, after you disconnected, QL browser updated server's skill level to whatever it's "empty" value was, but simply wasn't that fast to update players list.
that's wrong. empty servers are skill-matched for everyone. when players connect, the skill rating of the server is equal to the highest skill rating among players on the server, and you maintain your skill rating on that server until you disconnect.
this is nothing new and it's completely obvious what's happening. the asynchronous updates of QL game state are still exceedingly slow. if your skill rating drops after you exit a server, but before you are shown as having left the server in browser, it will still display the skill rating for which your level had previously applied.
this happens to me often after winning games versus lower-skilled players. (it really makes no sense). my skill level will be 56, I'll join an empty server, and someone with a clearly lower skill (in actuality and in terms of sv_skillrating) will join and lose, and when I disconnect and connect to the same or another server, my skill rating will drop to some 41, or 35, or sometimes even 30. (like I said, it makes no sense). and then if I lose a close game to someone who's still rated at 50 or so, it will jump back up to 40 or 45. don't put any weight into this system at all--it will break.
I select empty duel servers in QL browser and see all kinds of servers: skill-matched, more challenging, your skill higher, though all of them are empty.
