Funny how the SC2 cups are getting more schedule listings then the Quake ones

simply because there's way more of them
we're only covering europe - there's a ton more going on in the US and probably korea where we don't hear anything about them

I know about the countless other SC2 cups, but this one is a Zotac SC2 cup right? Isn't a QL Zotac on at the same time as the SC2 one every time? Just found it amusing that it's schedule was posted up first this time and the QL one wasn't even listed last week iirc :P

well at least we get 512 signups every week, not 50
and instead of 1 hour checkins we only need around 15 minutes to get those 512 full - if we were to run a 1024 players grid we'd probably even get that full
semifinals & finals in the last couple of weeks got approximately 5000-10000 vieweres on streams
and this is beta with regulations by blizzard - you don't even get 10% of either players or spectators with qlive

Kinda already said what I was saying. I'm gonna watch the SC2 cup over the QL one. I prefer watching the SC2 cups to be honest, but it's just funny that a predominantly Quake forum is late on the QL cup over the SC2 ;)

sc2's numbers vs. QL are impressive enough. Why would you want to spoil your post with stating 50, even though that's a wrong number?

Right now, some people aren't getting in, as it fills up extremely fast. If someone doesn't get in for a few weeks straight, they might stop trying. The demand is obviously there.

u get about 15 minutes to checkin before its full, u should try and count to 900 and see how long that takes.

Check-in time is normally an hour, and I'd say 15 minutes is overestimating a bit.

can anybody indicate me a way to get a key in order to test sc2 beta plz?

Your options are slim. Either opt-in and hope for a key to be sent to you (via www.battle.net), get someone in the beta who has a friend invite key to give you, or see if the stores in your area give you a key when you pre-order the game.

I believe that this pre-order beta key promotion is only in US and Britain.

I've heard rumors of France and Germany, as well.

Pre ordered sc2 at a dutch webshop and got my beta key...

You can also preorder the game and some perticular sites give out beta keys. Check out which sites give out keys for preodering. Be be quick about it, there are not to many keys around i believe.

Well known bug in SC2. The timing for calculating APM is actually based on game-speed, and everyone plays on the fastest setting.

Looks like poker starcraft to me tbh --> boring.

Anyway, people just play it cuz :

- it's starcraft
- it's from blizzard, so you can be sure that all the wowers/war3ers and console online players noobs will try it and most probably love it aswell
- it's easy for the noobs cuz of battle.net (and it's a good thing)
- lots of people are from wow, cs, console games etc (soz they don't have a clue about how a good "e-sport" game should be, soz let them play basically anything, even if it's crap, they will like it, if you get my point)
- it has pretty graphix, art design and fun sounds (lot of noobs just play it cuz it's fun and beautiful, i mean, all the people from the lower battle.net leagues, or those from the team/ffa leagues, but also a lot of them don't really care about the competitive aspect of the game)
- lot of semi "progamers" foreigners from sc1 are bored of sc1 and are looking for a new game to continue to follow the "i wanna be a korean progamer" dream, but anyway, in 4-5 years, 90% of them will still be wanna be pro.... soz....
- there's a lot of hype cuz it's new, so basically even if the game is not as good as sc1 gameplay wise, you can be sure that a lot of people will play it and try to convince themselves that the game is actually good and has potential (remember cs:source, quake 4, l4d ?), but you'll see in like 1 year, there will be a lot of disappointment....
- lot of korean already play it, so let's say it's a playerbase of at least 2 millions, but you know, here again, it's a lot about the hype, and you know, 80% of them are like "omg flash is my god, omg jaedong is my god, omg omg i wanna be a progamer, omg, i wanna be rich", soz when they see "starcraft 2 omg ffs, it's starcraft 2 omg, i love starcraft omgomg, i love protoss zerg terran, omg, love love", they are obviously jizzing in their pants. Not to mention all the foreigners wanna be pro who are always dreaming about the "korean progaming", but they will stay dreamers for ever i guess.
- since there's no good new "e-sport" game nowadays, all the desperate people are trying sc2 cuz they expect it to be THE new "OMG SO PRO E-SPORT GAME, OMG I'M RICH AND FAMOUS COOLLER IS MY WIFE OMG", but again, cuz they're all retarded, you can be sure that in 1 year or so, they'll keep playing wow, cs, halo, or quake.

Just keep in mind that :

progaming = joke
korean progaming =/= god
blizzard / EA / Valve / ID = $$$$$$$$$
gamers = nerdz
