So now the dust has settled and it appears the Samsung 2233rz and Viewsonic vx2268 are the top dogs when it comes to 22" 120hz LCDs at the moment. However the Viewsonic is the only one with a VGA connector.
See - the GF6600Gt in my shuttle XPC has both DVI and VGA, but its DVI is most likely not the right type for 120hz action at this kind of resolution.
My laptop, which is my main machine(9600M GT), has an HDMI out I know for sure can't do 120hz, which leaves its VGA out as the only option.
I would expect to be able to get that monitor to run at 120hz over a direct VGA connection, but apparently you HAVE to use a dual-link DVI interface to get that kind of refresh rate out of these screeens, and the VX doesn't easily do that refresh rate at lower resolutions...
Anyone tried it? Outlook not so good ... might have to stick to a really snappy 60hz panel :/
(edit: shuttle is on xp sp3, lappy on vista sp2)
