I used an intelli 3.0 for a year odd and more or less just put up with the issues that your raised. The side buttons and mouse wheel in particular were a nightmare for me. I'm on my second razer deathadder, which is to me (more or less) an improvement on the 3.0

if you like the shape of it you'll probably like the deathadder
the new version is really picky about the surface though.

- It's 400dpi. (I use dual monitors without accel so I don't see any issue here)
- You must sweat alot, I've had a ms3.0 for 8 years with only a bit of staining.
- cursor problem does not happen to me

Yeah the buttons are pretty shit, but I don't use the mousewheel or the side buttons.

Mousewheel is fine for me, side buttons are shit but you eventually get used to it. Not sure about your sensor issues, I only use resolutions <=1280x800 and I don't get any of these drifting issues you mentioned either.

Bummer, i don't mind the mouse and can put up with it, but i'd rather migrate elsewhere, ya know? Not keen on the DA, i've had one before, and i like trying something diff ;P

To be honest, i much prefer the 1.1a shape but i find it almost impossible to source in Australia (cbf ordering from overseas, or getting through some crazy Asian store) I'd probably go for a Xai, i would like the other features it offers

I've had a Deathadder before, it was alright, although it was slightly too big for me just like the 3.0 but meh, it's still a great mouse.

It's going into winter here and i can assure you my hands don't sweat at all, most of the time they're freezing, but the little section that has had the coating rub off is right below my thumb and incredibly annoying. Might be because i didn't cut my nails for a week?

remember that the xai has the positive accel issue. id recommend the krait or logitech g1/mx300/mx310 if you can any of those.

i own and have used the mx300/g1/g3/mx310/salmosa each for quite some time over the years and i much prefer the xai over all of them. pos accel is way overrated.

While that pos. accel is a bit of a problem, i find myself REALLY preferring accel, recently started playing bc2 and it rages me that it does not have accel like quake.

I like the idea of hardware acceleration that is fixed among different games

pos accel with the xai is nothing like you seem to think it is. it starts to happen at speeds around 1m/s iirc and is not stable anyway. really... you're overcomplicating things.

unless: you meant the option to have accel through the steelseries drivers (and profiles). if you were referring to that, forget what i wrote.

I heard that the positive accel is only slight, that doesn't bother me.

I would also use the hardware level accel on top of that, etc.

No cursor problems here. Try a different surface and return the mouse if it keeps it up. Side buttons are shit here but the wheel is fine.

the 3.0 is known for being of lower quality, it's just how it is. the sensor usually works perfectly, so you must be unlucky with having a drifting cursor. maybe it's the surface...?

I just got myself another one today :)

Either you play a whole fucking lot, or your mouse might be faulty. I guess M$ gives the same product gurantees then any other company so you could try to return it to get a new one which hopefully performs better.

about the drifting cursor, are you sure it's not just the thick-ass cable dragging the mouse? (due to the weight off it in relation to the low weight off the mouse). I get that with my wmo when im not touching it.

I think you might have hit the nail on the head here, i've had it attatched to my monitor for a while and it is still coiled (the way it is packaged prevents it from being straight) and it might actually pull it back in position... although im not 100% certain

thats probably the case. the cables of the classic ms mice are pretty shitty (although prolly durable)

side buttons ARE crap, but who the hell uses those...

the wheel was great for me for like 8 years, in the 9th yeah it started to wear off

and the tracking was flawless.

I do, i like the feeling of a good mouse. Plus they're helpful for +zoom in Ql, Knife in bc2 and more importantly +back in mozilla :P
