It does suck...I think there are a few players who have potential to be top duelers. I couldn't tell you what is holding them back though...

I think this is because of lack of events more than anything. If there was a LAN like dreamhack in the states maybe more people would put the effort in.
That EG-MSI online tourney might pull some people out of their holes.

Ever heard of QuakeCon?

Still only 2 events a year, one being the biggest international quake event. Dreamhack is a bit smaller and fills a gap between quakecon and esl events.

wonder why there's so few NA players able to compete on an international scale? You're giving up the only NA lan spot in an online tournament running in europe without even considering ANYONE IN THE ENTIRE FUCKING CONTINENT. LOL. There are players you have NEVER heard of and never will hear of because you think the only skill in the world is in your little socio-economic bubble. We have ONE quake lan a year in NA and that's quakecon. The only players in NA that have a chance to compete are sponsored and given free passes to all of the tournaments as well as given lan time to prepare before anyone else. They're also given the best practice partners and outright refuse to play anyone who isn't "in"... We don't even have regular ONLINE tournaments in NA that pay, this past year there's been $100 tournaments every other month or less and that has been UNUSUALLY HIGH TRAFFIC. What do you expect to happen exactly?
