Mad props to jedirob, djwheat and pretty much everyone else involved that inspired them to expand into the world of FPS from just doing Fighting games for years.

that's the big fault of the Quake scene.. the "pros" were spoiled by esports organizations and play for money only.

when the organizations disband or change games you have people not willing to play anymore.

the whole sum being made up by tournament entry fees

They copy and pasted a really old quakecon rule set.
And they seem to be treating quake like some off brand fighting game. Not sure if they were expected a competitive turn out anyway, but entry fee pay outs isn't the way to do it :<.

they play the arcade version, not the low quality SNES port
also that is more like a side tournament, nobody plays that game seriously
