we sold them at work, only ever had one returned as faulty, had a bit of a mess around with it myself (belkin has epic warranties, straight swap over, etc, so this is good)

never played games with it though

It was comfortable, nicely backlit, sturdy plastic that wasn't too shabby

I didn't like that it was only made out of plastic, it feels quite flimsy in your hands, and does not have any considerable weight.

Thought about buying one for ages, but realistically if you've already got a decent keyboard there is no reason to go and remap all your keys to this thing and spend ages getting it setup..... If you have a wireless keyboard or something and want just a thing to play FPS games it's not too bad

Overall, for the money you spend on it, i'd just be making sure that you have enough keys on the thing

I have a kbd that I'm destroying just by using it to play quake, and someone offered me one of these, so I don't have to worry about the money aspect, I just wondered about the performance.

For all it would be able to do, I can use the kbd for the rest non-intensive things- chat, console commands, etc.

I loved the things, but i really wasn't able to justify buying one when i had a lycosa.... If you've ever used a lycosa the n52te feels similar in quality, if not slightly better

it's just a mini keyboard that's heapy comfy but i'm not sure how many years it will last, doesn't have a lot of heft to it

i bought one and it caught on fire as soon as i plugged it in. also the chinese factory that manufactures it has 38.2% worker suicide rate. belkin means a company from the bellend kingdom btw.

since you are new to quake you could fall into buying gaming products, but since you are active here you know even pros (being cooller the only important one ofc) use regular kbs/mouse/etc if they are not sponsored (even cooller said thats only a publicity stunt).

But if you want to change your kb you should look for a tenkeyless one due to ergonomics. That way is lots more comfortable to play, or you could go russian style (again a cooller reference).
Do not buy a "gaming kb" or go into buying expensive products just for that purpose like cherry blacks kb or getting nkro, which is useless in practice except for two combos with the regular matrix: WAQ or WDE being pressed at the same time (if you are really having trouble with those just use ESDF).

to answer these: I've not actually changed anything in my setup yet, still using a dell mouse & kbd. The only reason I would actually buy an expensive kbd is if it holds up to strenuous use. Apparently my use of them qualifies as strenuous because I've only had this kbd since 12/09 (roughly). I was using WERD, but I was starting to have to press keys more than once to get them to function (not even going into the ghosting issues), so I moved my binds over to YUIJ (the other half of the kbd), so I wouldn't wear out the left side so fast. I press really hard I realized and I play alot so that's how, methinks.

For as long as my friend lets me use this thing, I figure it would at least help me extend the life of my kbd, using it only for "other" in-game things like chat binds, typing, console, etc.

my keyboard aint beaten up, its just dirty :P

Yeah, that is something that I noticed right off was that it looks like I'll have to rethink my setup, but I figured I'd keep my kbd handy for chat binds, console, etc. and bind only essentials (and as much other as I can within reason) to the n52te.

It has a feature to switch between different bind configurations, but just getting used to it will be a task in itself. I don't think I'll be messing with that too much.

Edit: I don't know how practical it will end up being, but with it even having its own scroll wheel, that also adds options to changing mouse button binds as well. I dunno, I'm just happy to have something to experiment with that I've never used before.
