He was just trying to square it across goal to keep it in. He got lucky, hit it on the outside of the foot, and with the nature of this years ball it swerved across.

i agree with led, if he wanted to pass he would've used the side foot (inner part?) instead of instep/almost outer part of the foot. look closely at the way the ball spins when crossing the line. that was never ever supposed to be a pass to the outside of the 'box'.

Used to play as a goalkeeper before I did my shoulder in and confidence is everything. If you get sat out then it's game over. It can take ages to get back to old form so I feel really sorry for Green especially since it was one silly mistake. If it's bad for me and other goalies I knew for shitty little local games, then it must fucking suck since it's the World Cup :P
