Listening to some Simon Scarrow at the moment - set in the time of the Roman empire. The narrator does a good job and the books are pretty good ...

Read the first four, reading the fifth at the moment. Great books! Easy to get into and pretty gripping, good characters, some funny moments... etc! :)

Good narrator voice (his), good stories, nice variance

I thought the "brave new world" audiobook was pretty good, can't remember the narrator though.

Of course I read it and loved it, up until the point where Dumbledore died. At that point the series lost its magic, no pun intended.

Yes, it was totally out of the question that the old and wise master, who has been mentoring and guiding the protagonist, had to die at some point so that the story could actually be resolved by the protagonist. Whoever couldn't see obi wan's death coming must never have been exposed to any kind of hero story whatsoever.
...I mean gandalf...i mean yoda...i mean dumbledore

wheel of time by Robert Jordan and you'll have something to read for a while. I'm re reading it right now too prepare for the last book.

Audio books are ok, I guess, if you're driving or otherwise need your hands (giggity).
Otherwise gimme an actual book any time. :)

For what it's worth, tho, I like listening to lectures and presentations instead of audio books. To each their own. :)

i once tried to listen to a lecture on heidegger while playing this simpsons car-game with sound while my siblings talked and stuff

now i have this image burned into my memory; all sensory modalities tangled up in this vivid, detailed mess of game, real-life and abstractions

i got the same feeling of overload when playing quake with hands left-right switched while timing all items and listening to the most speedy, expressive, multilayered music

hmm, maybe i shall try that again tomorrow - it was quite fun. like spinning in quick circles while reading books upside-down and trying to make dinner

of course, like staying a bit too long in the sauna after a few drinks, this will ruin the rest of your day

(i can't sleep. someone recommend a boring book that i can listen to :c)

The song of ice and fire, first three books read by Roy Dotrice, are hands down the best audio books I've ever listend to.

To kill time, all the discworld books are great as well, both the ones read by Nigel Planer and Stephen Briggs
