Like people have written here, all these players with foreign names are either born in Germany or moved there before the age of 4, meaning that a big part of their culture, attitude and most of all football is german. It's not like Özil was taught how to play in a turkish club, not as if he didn't go to school in Germany.

In any case, all of the national players bar Cacau spend the majority of their life here and got their education in football here. So, in a way one could argue that if they started for the country they or their parents once came from, that they just "used" the German youth coaches.

That means that if someone is good, he can have close games with rapha and even win sometimes. Dahang did not have any even remotely close games (neither online nor on lan) with rapha since IEM America (where rapha was unmotivated and sick), he was only badly raped by him.

lets not get crazy the fact that stermy beat an inshape rapha is worty of mention, whereas the last few times rapha and dahang have met the result has been 3-0 rapha, all this does is prove that an inshape rapha can be beaten and he was starting to look like he was never going to be beat.

cos if its around 10-20 ms then 60hz has much more negative effect on the gameplay than this little input lag

cause no name monitors usually have horrendous input delay, and no, 20ms delay has worse impact on your aim/move than 60hz could ever have, 60hz might hurt your eyes over time but it won't make you aim/move worse.

I agree that input delay is more important than hz .

I stand to be corrected but my theory about how hz effects your aim is to do with reaction time and prediction.

My theory is that with higher hz your brain recieves a much better average of position and movement within the game. And with a smoother interpretation comes better split second predictions and reactions that can happen quite often in quake.

Herz is the amount of times your monitor refreshes the image on screen per second, so the same measurement as frames per second in quake.

Imagine this situation, a rocket battle of dodging and firing rockets at 15 fps, and then a rocket battle at 30 fps. Ok obviously this is taking it to the extreme.
But at 30fps you will be able to dodge much easier because you are recieving 15 more frames of information on where the rocket is traveling, and also be able to fire a more accurate rocket back at your oponent with recieving 15 more frames of information on his position and movement. So you are recieving a better average of motion within the game.

Now the argument against this would be that after a certain fps/hz is reached it doesn't make a difference because your brain can only interpret so much per second and anything faster would just get interpolated.

Sure but when things are moving at very high speeds in the game, like when a guy is strafe jumping across a small gap really fast and you have to aim upward to try hit him. On 60 fps/hz maybe you would recieve 12 images of him jumping across the gap where as on 120 fps/hz you would recieve 24 images of him jumping across the same gap giving you a more accurate interpretation of his motion path resulting in a much higher chance of reacting in time and aiming at the correct spot.

It's little bit smoother, so it's easier to track with lg etc.

No. 60hz means 60 refreshes / second. 60 refreshes per second means 16.6 miliseconds delay between frames (1000ms / 60)

120 hz means 8.3 miliseconds delay (1000 ms / 120) between frames.

So, running 60 hz instead of 120 adds up to 8.3 miliseconds delay, on top of the natural LCD delay of actually changing fucking pixel colors. So you're wrong, and eswc is gay.

a crappy panel can add A LOT more than just those 8ms, so yeah, the 60hz is usually the least problem with crappy LCDs

and btw. the delay between 2 frames is smth different than the delay it takes from moving your mouse to the monitor drawing it.
otherwise you'd also have that delay problem on CRTs with 60hz

Anandtech is generally a fairly good tech site. But I once read an excerpt of an email from somebody working in panel manufacturing, and he described a host of image preprocessing possibilities they'd perform depending on what the specific panel requires, and which would add to input lag. I gave up after one paragraph though, because that shit was so convoluted.

So I'd take the article as a rough estimate only, regarding the LCD part of it.

They do. Because in this case scaling is done by the monitor to calculate the image pixel values. And that processing time adds to the lag.

Running an LCD in native resolution is one step in minimizing input lag.

With vsync off, monitor always draws most recent frame at any given moment, and seeing even part of frame is enough for brain to approximate what has changed in whole scene, so limited refresh rate doesn't really induce any visible input lag.

According to www.tftcentral.co.uk, this monitor has a AUO TN Film panel (M190PW01 V0).

I'm not really into the topic, but while surely not high end those panels might incur comparatively low lags. That's at least what I seemed to gather from a 16.6ms google search.

If desperate, one could look for reviews of other monitors using that panel. E.g. the BenQ FP94VW does, I believe.

It is really sad that recently the company I work at moved and threw away like 10 old but ok 140 hz crt's which would be perfect for ql, while they play on new-age monitors which are hardly playable...

As far as I know this is not truth. In the registration form delivered by main ESWC admins it was required to fill all booked slots before submitting. I haven't seen that form but this is information I got from qualifier organizers. Actually bodzo was in that list already but suddenly disappeared so it looks rather like system error.
