I don't buy Dunga's explanation as to why he didn't bring Ronnie along. IMO, he just didn't fit in this fortress-like setup with everyone except the striker working hard in defense. Ronnie is many things, but he never was one to backtrack a lot to help out in defense, and that seems to be what this Brazil was all about. Thank fuck it didn't work out all that well, maybe next time around we'll get to see the beautiful, creative Brazil again.

Kaká is "just" an exceptional midfielder, but he has never been at the level of real brazilian supertalents as Rivaldo, Romario, Ronaldo, etc, etc

I can compare him as in all the others were world top quality and Kaka isn't. The truth about Kaka is that he appeared at a moment when Ronaldo was getting old and there was no other raising Brazilian talent Nike could sell to the world, so Kaka was the only choice for Nike to make their brand icon. He never had the talent to go with the charge, but he was brazilian and was good enough to play at european's top teams. Ronaldinho only appeared years later, and he could have been the real deal if he didn't like the samba so much.

- Refused to use his right foot
- Consistently refused to be unselfish even if it results in missed opportunities
- Dived at even the slightest contact

Don't forget the winning a lot of games on his own bit. But yeh, he is a very "particular" player (this means he has weird flaws :P).

Besides he is playing this world cup obviously injured. He can't use 100 percent of his sprinting speed, which gives defenders much more opportunities to foul him.

Under Ferguson he was given a complete attacking free role, with Rooney/Tevez told to fill the area he vacates.

at Manchester united he was a winger, running with the ball at his feet with his face towards the goal (which is his main strength). In Portugal he is playing as central striker (something he probably foolishly demanded himself) , were he receives the ball with his back towards the goal only to lose it 2 seconds later.

He was only nominally a winger (compare his play with that of his replacement Valencia), he basically just played an attacking free role with no defensive responsibility.

He's so poor/average for Portugal mostly because they play a massive defence orientated game (hence they're good clean sheet record). He doesn't always play as the central striker for them and I think he only plays there because Portugal have zero decent strikers.

I think the biggest mistake Queiroz made was making him captain. If he didn't believe before he had to do it all on his own, that sealed it.

Dani, Nani, Deco, Tiago and Simao are all good players. I didn't know Coentrao before, but he seemed quite good too. Portugal actually has a quite decent team ruined by ultradefensive play and their strong dependance on a star who's unable of any teamplay.

Made (tried to make) space for Robben and Kuyt, linked up with Sneijder and Robben on flanks to play one-two's... i think he finally realized he's still not on top of his game and stopped counting on his pace and technical ability to create opportunities for himself. I really think it was Robin's best game in this cup.

Huntelaar was hilarious, though. As much as i like him, i don't understand why does he keep getting chances at highest level football. He's so clearly out of his depth against any side that has a fucking clue in defense.

I don't think playing up top of a 4231 suits Robin, 433, yeah or as an SS in a two man strike force as in those formations he can drop deep but in the 4231 he can't do this as Sneijder is in that area and he looks uncomfortable.

Of course he always contributes as he always works hard, I just meant there weren't many moments involving him as "force". Lets hope he can adjust to the ball and hit some of those PL free kicks in the next games!

It's part of football aslong as the fifa allows people to dive.
It's very easy to stop diving. Watch the images after a match and everyone that dived during the match gets 4 matches suspension.
