The map actually looks pretty interesting. Going to give it a play through tonight. Should get rid of the 'spawn with GL' thing, however.

Why? It can add a strategic element, in or out of control.

Well, if players actually learn to use it, then it will slow down game hell of a lot (much easier +backing, if you're attacking you can't just rush in fast, you have to check for mines always) and add more random unbalancing elements (e.g. with some luck you can easily deny items from a heavily stacked opponend while having no stack at all). Generally it will only annoy players rather than make map more interesting for them.

Cause clearly QL duels aren't all about scoring the first 2 or 3 frags in the first couple minutes then +back'ing the rest of the game. It's ungodly boring to watch. I guess you eurofags get off on that sort of thing, just like soccer.

I'm not, I too think each of the new weapons could add to duell gameplay.

Chaingun is random and overpowerded.

The spread is semi-random yes, but overpowered I don't think so with its spread, heat-up and cool-down and ammo empties very fast

That's right. Depends on the actual .bsp file name though, so assuming it's the pk3 name or similar (check in the .pk3, it's just a .zip file really).

about the map, at first glance it seems to be scaled up far too much so someone hinting its very hitscanny is probably true, and it feels more tdm than duel cause of its size. perhaps even CA too :>

Just judging from the screenshots, the architecture looks a little... angular. Curves can make a room a lot more interesting to play in.
