We need ONE stream with proper setup/config done and tested BEFORE the tournament and VODs uploaded next morning at most. Oh yeah, and it better shouldn't shut down for 5 hours because someone's PC broke down and Professional Shoutcasting Team turned out to be not aware of the concept of backup.
Otherwise if it is even 100 streams, what's the point? The same FAIL, but 100x more?

two streams would be great - one with shoutcast and one with only gamesound in case the shoutcast is bad.

Except they were setting up that stream for like 4 hrs after the supposed tournament start. And stream on website still had wrong aspect ratio (was fixable only when watching via VLC). And VODs were released in, like, 100500 years after everyone forgot that QCon even existed.

when eswc is 3 hours late, and gtv kicks in after 5 hours so you miss most of the games in groupstage, noone gives a fuck. but thats q3 so i guess people feel obliged to suck its dick and forget how fucked the gtv was in at least 30% of cases

quakecon 2009 was really good, stream was flawless, high quality, cast was great. i don't know what to whine about personally.

hopefully qc will get us first infos on doom4.

Yeah for both of them. The part where Tosspot shouts "good rail! That's a good drawing board!" I'm sat there thinking "... yeah but he can't be low surely..." and when I watch that I can't help but feel spartie overhead him and thought "... oh he must be low then!"

How internet will help to get rid of horrible commentary, crappy picture quality, how it will allow to customize config, select POV you like, choose matches YOU want to watch, not the streamer, etc?

i like stream and don't think GTV should be a top priority.
The quality that ESL (premium) and lvl'up gives is really good and i like to always have the same POV that the commentators commentate on and i like commentators, whit out its 10 times more boring.
so np for me.

The quality still isn't nearly good enough for full screen.
I also like commentators when it's someone good like 2GD, but he doesn't cast that often. But many other commentators are just bloody annoying, like those stupid morons from holysh1t. I want to have a choice to watch uncommentated games when those pieces of shit are casting. Also, usually streamer and commentator are different people, and you see picture from streamer, not from commentator, so "POV that the commentators commentate on" argument is kinda irrelevant, because you almost never see commentator's POV.
Also, GTV doesn't necessarily mean "same old Q3 GTV". If id could somehow be arsed, they can make GTV with commentary and video overlay that would give pretty much the same stuff as streams, but with ingame picture and sound rendered instead of streamed. So you still get all the commentary and coverage like interviews and studio cams, but at the same time you need less bandwidth to watch and can customize everything in game, choose to watch commentator's POV or select it yourself, etc.

sure i agree. it would be great whit a new awesome GTV but streaming imho works well enough, so i think there are stuff that should be higher prioritized.

he's played some TDM & in a ZOTAC ( I think it was) recently.... pretty good shape from what people have said about his performance

he almost made it to the final of the previous zotac cup, beated av3k and lost to agent 2-1, after stuppidly cratering on t4, at 3 secs from the end, ithen lost in 2min overtime. he played some tdm for SWE too! his timming didnt look sharp, but he still managed to beat av3k.
