hmm, the zoom thingy might actually work thining about it - perhaps on the weapon bind for that particular weapon, set mouse1 to be +attack (or whatever), and +zoom plus the sensitivitys etc.

will give this a go - Noctis, ta for the reply also, im happy to use vstr's too, have one set up already to toggle rail zoom using rail weapon bind as it is.

why not just add " ; new sensitivity (whatever you want it to be)" for LG and "; [old sensitivity]" for every other weapon, that way when you change weapons it sets it back?

because i hate running round the map with a low sens - im a really high sens player (like 3-4 inches with accel for 360) so having to trawl my mouse about moving around is a chore.

i just use custom sens for each weap, and ive experimented with having 2 LG binds (yeah i know, lol) one with regular sens the other with 50% of that :)

hmm, tried to get this working but dont see the significance of the button5 bit.

What im after doing is, having selected lg, when you hit fire (mouse1, for the duration of firing it makes changes then reverts when you release it) - got any ideas?

all that seemed to do was bind a key to some modifiers?

+button5 _is_ the important part :p

The +button5 thing is a trick to create +vstr type scripts w/o actually having +vstr to work with. Basically modifiers that are only active while a button is held down and revert upon release.

To get what you want you can try the following...


add this somewhere in your config:

bind urLGselectkey "weapon 6;exec mouse1b"
bind otherweapons "weapon #;exec mouse1a"

(you must add the "exec mouse1a" part to every weap that you DONT want to use the modifier)

set functionz "vstr functionzon"
set functionzon "+attack;HOLD SETTINGS;set functionz vstr functionzoff"
set functionzoff "-attack;RELEASE SETTINGS;set functionz vstr functionzon"

(replace CAPS with your settings of choice)


create a mouse1a.cfg with the following line:

bind mouse1 +attack


create a mouse1b.cfg with the following line:

bind mouse1 "+button5;vstr functionz;-button5"


Put them both in the same directory as your config.


This worked for me in my testing so it should work for you as well.

i did this for a while in quake3 where i had a lower sens and fov on lg/mg when pressing mouse1. in the end i don't think it's worth it tbh.

Yeah I played with 2 separate zooms for years and while it was sorta ok for aiming, it would throw my distance perception off and make my dodging crap.

So recently I just started sticking w/ same fov same sens for everything.

would this work?

I tried something similar but it kept toggling instead of +/-. I couldnt get it to work properly w/o multiple cfgs. Or maybe I was just screwing up the script.

Another trick:
Set a zoomsens & zoomfov on each weapon bind and a "+zoom" key.

so, in your cfg, for example:

cg_fov "110"
bind SPACE "+zoom"

bind key "weapon 2; cg_zoomfov 55;cg_zoomsensitivity 0.5"
bind key "weapon 6; cg_zoomfov 110;cg_zoomsensitivity 0.7"
bind key "weapon 7; cg_zoomfov 30;cg_zoomsensitivity 0.2".....

Then, with the shaft, when you'll press the spacebar, your sens will reduce and your fov won' t change.
With the rail, the sens & fov will reduce etc...

You have to try differents zoomsens values & you should have cg_zoomToggle "0" for the hold/release stuff.

oh wait, i have an idea, bind another key for +zoom!!!

Total idiots here. Just bind your normal sensitivity with all your weapon binds, like "bind q weapon whatever; sensitivity 6"

Then bind a new sensitivity on a button you want. Press said button when engaging in LG fight, press your LG bind again if you want to run around the map with high sens after the fight.

Total idiot here.
