280's work very well, I'd honestly re-buy those, they're cheap on Amazon.

PC350 doesn't isolate very well and there is almost no bass in them which make them awesome for gaming but crappy for music/movies.

So it doesn't sound like PC350 is the right choice for you.

Well I haven't tried the 280's so I can't say. The sound quality i quite goog i guess, but it's just not really good for music due to the almost non-existent bass

I've read a lot about the missing bass on the sennheiser pc-350. I bought them anyway and still i don't regret that.
You should use them on a decent soundcard (but who still uses crappy onboardsound?) and you will get some options to amplify the bass to fit your needs (BUT don't expect some UBERbass you might get from some other headsets).
In general the sound is fantastic on this headset. Pretty much the best i've had, and i used and destroyed (not by intention) a lot of "cheaper" headsets like medusa 5.1 (CRAP!!!), razer cacharias.

BUT: why do you say they dont isolate? thats simply not true.. you barely hear anything that happens around you when there is gamesound or music playing on your phones (or both ;) ). Wait till your gf/wife/mother stands in front of you and you see their lips moving but can't hear shit ;)

long story short: nice robust headset with little lack of bass but very decent isolation

Well I don't regret my purchase either. I love the headset and it is by far the best I've ever tried. The lacking bass is a good thing since it so essential for gaming.

The wirke broke with my sennheiser HD590 too. Like 5 times. Funny story, a retail replacement cable costs almost as much as new headphones! Those must be really fine cables besides the breaking all the time ofc. I mean, that golden connector has to be solid gold... brb goldsmith!

Has to be the 80 or 32 ohm versions though. Your sound card will have trouble with the 250 ohm ones.

I'd go with the 280 Pros again too. If you just want to fix them I believe it's roughly 55USD to fix any part.

thanks for the suggestions, so i think 'ill need to make a decision between the sennheiser pc350, beyerdynamics 770 and actually rebuying the hd280 pro or not, the reason i didnt pick the others was simply because i cant waste more than 150euros, its just too much for a pair of headphones, imo. i wish i could actually try them out somewhere but i doubt here in portugal i'll find a place i can do that, meanwhile would be good to find someone here that had the 280 and changed to pc350 to know his opinion, im very tempted to buy those mainly because it's an headset.

buy a proper mic with a clip-on or a stand with the money you saved on the phones.

i don't have the hd280 to compare, it's a lot better than the hd 600 which i own (obviously since they're pretty much open).

My seggestion goes to Beyers DT770 Pro 80ohm and the pc 350 ;D
I have the DT770 and they cancel any noise you may have in lans and also they have an amazing bass and good mids and highs, a really good experience in games and music, and they are even better with an amp.

Tho the PC 350 or even the 360 are also amazing most of the ppl i know from TF2 commynity uses them and they isolate the sound just as good as the DT770 but they do suck for music =D

i'd get a dedicate amp otherwise you're out of luck whenever you want to use your headphones for anything else than your pc.

The PC360's are not closed and do not isolate you as well as the PC350's. I just thought I would clarify your point. I own both. If you are dealing with noise issues while gaming the sennheiser pc350's are a better choice than the pc360's.

The thing with PC350s are that they are gaming headsets. Don't expect them to be amazing for music or whatever because of the bass. Alot of people buy the PC350s expecting a headset they can use for everything when really it's build for gaming purely and that's why it's so good yet they still give it bad reviews because of that (tards)

Sorry for dumping this thread but I still have the same question.. meanwhile I repaired my sennheiser hd280 (which cost around 30€) but the earpads are fucked and a little piece of it broke also when I was using this for djing during the new years :x.. they're already from 2006 so its quite normal anyway. Soon I must buy a new pair of headphones and i'm still deciding if I get the PC350 or not.. my budget can't go further than 150 euros and I truly need good isolation, at least as good as the 280's! thanks!

dunno how strong the amp in there, but the PC350 sounds like a ripp-off if you are not feeding it correctly. It's a closed HD595, you can get an audiophile high-end result with the proper signal, so a good soundcard is a must imo. X-Fi probably will do, but I never had one.

does the Xonar DX have a AMP?

Dunno sorry, DS and DG doesn't but the Xense does (ST and STX also), and Asus found a good one for the Xense from Texas Instrument.
The card can feed headphones with impedance up to 600-700 ohms.

Modding it with only 1 hole for the bass makes it even better, but don't believe the modding reviews with 3-4 or even more holes, you will end up closing those holes as the headphone burns in.

true, but don't underestimate the amp on that card, you gonna need an expensive external amp to get noticeably better quality.

check if your sound card can drive headphones with 200ohm impedance, if yes than you can properly feed the PC350 for sure.
if no, I recommend the Audio Technica 700 series and a mic, They will even sound better than the pc350 tbh (I'm just a sennheiser fan:P) , and you can get one for 100 bucks if you a patient enough.

If you want isolation in-ear-monitors are way better than any headphones. Its like earpluggs with sound, +20 db or more isolation. If thats not enough you can wear earmuffs over them for extreme isolation

I had several big studio headphones but i often got tired off the weight and warmness, they would start to itch around the ears and under the headband and they could strain the neck too.

In-ears are so comfortable, after u get used to the feel having them in the ears (like 3mins) one can forget that one wear them.
Use them with wire over ear with cable going bak to neck then use a cable clip to fasten to shirt with some play to move neck around, no cable strain whatsoever.

Also comes with an extension chord with is great, i have it dutch taped to my desk so its easy to unplugg. Unlike gamingheadphones these are great on the buss, working out, doing house work, etc

i'm satisfied with akg k271.
little weak bass (good for games) and i'm not a fan of strong bass anyways. There are closed so nice isolation and i find them comfortable to wear.

Any thoughts about the Sennheiser HD380 Pro? They seem a great replacement for the HD280 Pro fans, been reading some reviews and it seems that its way better than the PC350 also.

Well that HD380 will be more comfortable then the 280. I currently use a HD650 and I have a HD280 lying around for LANS (noise and also... I'd rather have someone stealing my 280's then my 650's).
