It's not exactly distance I reckon. QL servers then to not send information about enemies you can't see and hear (don't know the exact criteria). Sometimes when you quickly look around a corner you see someone popping up out of nowhere in the distance.
Same goes for demo's, at the times where your client didn't get info about your enemy, it won't be in the demo so you won't be able to change your pov to it.
I used an early version of wolfcam at and some distance behind corners, etc the information for other players is simply not recorded, i.e. the player you try to watch simply disappears.
I actually was under the impression that is because how the game rendering engine works, rather than which information you recieve through the netcode.
sadly no. he relies on control and in combat dodging way too much, and this is coming from a cooller fan boy. you gotta understand anyone who relies on a subset of aspects of the game (movement, aim, weapon choice, control, positioning, choosing fights, dodging, +back, enemy hp and position prediction) can never be perfect. Rapha on the other hand exploits mix of all these elements to the max, and that makes him near perfect, if you see his games the one thing that stands out is that he does not rely on a certain event happening or not, he has 3 to 4 backup plans handy, even under extreme pressure, I think this is what separates him from the most, among the current top players only cypher has this ability to a good extent.
you know superman got a special fullbody armor so kryptonite doesnt bother him
toxjq is known as a machine for his flawless play. He rarely makes (decision-) mistakes at all + toxjq aim :)
rapha can beat toxjq... remember fatality vs toxjq on phrantic. Fatality got a 3 or 4 frag lead in the first 2 min and then... run away like hell. Rapha vs Toxjq will look similar
Do you honestly think a win in a gdata means this much? He's still rusty and still far from his prime form, definitely not able to confront top4 and come out on top.
True he's rusty, but if he bootcamps he's EASILY top5. Even in the matches he is loosing to players like Cypher, he's still out damaging them. At the moment he's obviously relying on his aim which is imba but should he work on timing he'd be unstoppable...
edit: and it says something when he's hitting 20% LG and still outdamaging Cypher in the games he's losing (though to be fair it was probably a mess around game or something): http://www.quakelive.com/#profile/matches/tox...y/45078597
problem with tox is that he's a one dimensional player. his timing is mediocre at best, even I was thinking "go for red" as I was watching the game and I can't time for shit. with ql being far less rail/lg dominant and rapha playing it... tough.
Well, I'm not sure how much credence I'd put into examining his results vs. certain opponents in q4/ql. I was referring to how they're wildly different games.
I think if he got serious in ql he'd do well, but I'd be he'd be like fox and be consistently 4th-5th.
are they buddies since the q4 days or what? guess it's good that toxjq learns to play against superb rocket players like cypher. he must get used to boring +back and rocket spam play styles. xDD (not saying that cypher plays like that but u kno!1)
I wish we could see a top form cypher vs a top form toxjq. I think both had the best overall aim i have seen in Quake and they might be the most talented players out there. It's just sad that cypher can't play with wmo1.1 and have the same aim as before.
