If you're not a pro then it's a good cup for you to participate in because you actually get a chance to have some fun instead of losing in 1st round. Obviously, not many people will watch it, but it's a cup for players, not for spectators.

Dude, it's a summer cup meant for people that are active during summer.. it doesn't even have award icons.
Summer cups are basically fun semi-official cups for which i doubt will ever have prize money.

Pros.. well let's be realistic, the top 10 players will not waste their time playing in a cup without prizes when there are so many cups out there. But the few upcoming players will still try to make a name for themselves. Some of those finalists in CB summer cup might be interesting to watch non the less tho.


Oh and ClanBase in 98 was a dutch Q2 cup site.. not sure what was so great about that.

Fact that it needs money to be good is a bad thing.

Maybe it's not interesting for spectators indeed, but maybe it sure was cool for the participating players? I think those cups are atleast as important as that brings new talents and keeps the community big.

Besides the pro cups we also need good no money cups which keep ' the community ' together.

CB has lost some of its image (a lot of it ?) , but still can be good fun for all ppl that want to participate. If pros don`t want to participate there are plenty of regular players that can try to win in these cups, which is also an accomplishment of its own for them.

So who the f**k are you to question these players or their intentions of winning these cups like your opinion matters ? If u don`t like the stream don`t watch it. Or be happy that there is some Quake coverage on a regular basis and be thankful for that for a change.

Cups with no pros are the backbone of a community, the same way minor leagues serve major ones in sports. Maybe you don't follow them as spectators, but they matter for those playing. How complex can this concept be, really?

Almost every option is for "invited teams/players" and 2 is for public.

Its apparently pretty difficult. Almost every cup there has been news about on ESR has some pro or another in it but everybody groans about "newbs" when they don't get to watch them. Go figure. At this rate we won't have to worry about it very much longer, cause there won't be any to watch anymore.

A big part of this community does not play the game much, lacking time or will to compete in cups and so on. They participate to the community by spectating cups and posting comments. That pool, as well as many news items, may reflect this demography.

This does not, however, exclude the fact that active players that cannot compete with the pros yet, would like to be able to play cups where they have a chance. This happens in healthy communities. This is something we should like to see in quake live.

Instead, you come here, see a cup you did not know about, with names you have never seen, and the first thing you read in the comments is people complaining that such a cup is boring.
