Wolfcam allows you to watch demos offline.

theres a few demo players, but they have to connect to QL which is kinda stupid. the only one that (i think) was 100% offline (aside from wolfcam) was sent a cease and desist letter and halted, because it actually modded the QL files and stuff. wolfcam is ioquake3, but its buggy as fuck. stay away from it unless youre good at configging, or computers, or something, because youll get a lot of problems. just warning you now.

wolfcam is NOT buggy. i fact, it's far better than watching demos in QL.
all you need is a good ioquake/q3 config.

as far as i can see, there are three ways to do it now:

WolfcamQL and the Stand-Alone Demo Viewer are more or less the same, but with wolfcam you _can_ do far more advanced stuff like camerascripting and motionblur. very cool for movie makers, where as the stand-alone demo viewer is a bit more simple.

if you just want to watch demos, get the stand-alone demo viewer, read the readme if you wanna get some features like pov switching, changing the scoreboard style, item timers, etc.

don't know too much about quakelive offline, but there's no need to get into that, as the other two are pretty much perfect.

Here's my stand-alone viewer config:

start the viewer once, so it can create it's data-folder, then put the config here: C:\Users\hst\AppData\Roaming\IoQuakelive-Demo-Player\wolfcam-ql

hahha... youre trying to talk to me about wolfcam? look on the QL forums. ask around. i know the most about wolfcam, second to brugal who made it -_-

and it is, in fact, buggy. watch a ctf demo on any of the team maps (team7 is best) and look around for bugs. im sure theyll run directly at you, shooting you in the face (what i mean is that the player models are bugged on those maps).

seriously, dont try and say wolfcam is buggy. every update is bug fixes along with more cvars/tweaks. im not saying its bad, because its fucking amazing, but its not perfect yet. even brugal will admit, wholeheartedly, that it is, in fact. buggy.

also you can use my full wolfcam config (its my config, on my esr profile), and it has the best graphics settings possible. some things need tweaking ofc, since it was made back in like 5.4 or something, but it works.

and one more thing: the stand alone demo viewer IS wolfcamQL; he just renamed it.

sure, there are bugs, but you made it sound like it's completely unusable, which it's definitely not.
even with the stand-alone viewer version (which is apparently a pretty old version) it's absolutely no problem to watch duel (or clan arena, for that matter) matches without encountering any problems that destroy your viewing pleasure.
sure brugal would say that it's buggy, he knowns his sofware inside out. but that doesn't mean, that it's not usable for watching demos. and seriously, who watches team arena demos?

its perfectly usable, and its been used quite a bit, partially thanks to me and my QL thread and stuff. there are a lot of videos on youtube made with wolfcam, and im working on a BIG project (in connection with the QUAK3ZER0 thing), so its definitely usable and popular. but one other thing that my QL thread will prove is that its definitely not for noobs: there are like 3x as many cvars/cmds as there are in QL, and you would need to memorize a lot of them, or understand what they do, which can be pretty damn hard. i had to get a ton of cvars from other games because not many of them seem like quake cvars...

i didnt mean team arena demos i meant demos on the TA maps in QL. theres some pretty nice stuff on them, and theyre incredibly buggy. any map with invulnerability will glitch like crazy.

so its not perfectly usable... but its pretty fucking good, just really hard to get the hang of. i cant even keep up with the updates; i was just getting the hang od freecamming when he introduced rolling and shit... i was like BITCH!

1. get wolfcamql.
2. get the demo.
3. get a config or write one on your own (should take you 20 minutes if you're not a complete douche or a perfectionist).
4. watch the demo.

maybe that's too hard for quakelive.com forum users.

people run into all sorts of errors. with the base settings, its easy, since you just wanna watch the demo, but for movie making you need a perfect config and all that stuff. sometimes the q3 gibs dont work, sometimes the game doesnt load for this reason or that... its harder to get to work perfectly than most other things. but i agree this is getting stupid.
