cant find information about what they want to do in the future. is there no new interview? they want attending quakecon? or is it only fun playing in online tournaments. what information piece you gat.
beating av3k without timing anything and moving around in a very inconfident fashion, lol! need a toxic that times everything and rapes everyone imo :>
never displayed anything like that in q3. But yes, he is intelligent enough not to comeback. He did that mistake once, at Athens, and he got his ass kicked. He won't do that mistake again.
I am also curious to see if he really matured during q4, or q4 wasn’t that brain heavy and fitted him well.
well, although he surely wasn't on the top of his game in Athens, I think you're right he's a bit overrated in the brain department. But I'm really curious too to see him play at the highest level again.
Toxjq is real good, but the worshipping by some in here is ridiculous.
He never dominated Q3 OSP or CPMA duel, and it is well possible that his lack of timing ability means that he would never be on top of Quakelive but just the floater he was in Q3, a guy that could beat anyone and obviously was a topplayer, but who still lacked that special something to be the best.
Timing several items perfectly and creating situations by extreme tactical ability which is more important in Q3/QL than it was in Q4, was never Toxjqs strength. He also duelled a ton in Q3 even if his focus was on TDM where he always was an amazing player.
I watched a stream showing Toxjqs progress in the Zotac tournament last weekend where a guy called Disrepute was allowed to shoutcast, and I had to shake my head at his proposition when T4 was coming up that Toxjq might not know T4, or not know it very well.
He has played all the maps on several big LAN tournaments as well over a timespan of several years, and obviously has duelled a ton.
Stermy shoutcasted the matches as well and seemed just as annoyed at the notion of Toxjq being this phenomenon that hasn't duelled Q3 a lot but still plays great. He has a huge amount of experience and practice hours in the bag and that, together with his amazing aim and prediction makes him a great player.
It is however uncertain if Toxjg has the ability to be the best Q3 and QL dueller due to his lack in timing and game analysis, and his track record in OSP and CPMA would suggest that he can not. Q4 had a completely different flow which really catered to Toxjgs strengths.
I obviously know that, however he didn't pass the groupstage as his other results were too bad, and that is why I refer to him as a topplayer and a floater, a player that has shown he can beat anyone but not that he is able to be the best in Q3/QL.
What did you want to point out that differs from my view?
You can't judge tox's play solely on a couple online matchs. He could relearn how to time if he wanted to. It's really not that difficult if you dedicate yourself.
I'll agree that Q4 was a shit game only the pro's cared about and it catered toward tox's strengths. However, tox reached a level of excellence unmatched by any fps gamer past or present.
I do agree that Toxjq deserves praise, however stuff like this post from "jamalz" is just ridiculous:
"Imagine xaero bot on nightmare with coollers intelligence, zero4s nerves of steel and on crack."
Fact is Toxjq has not shown the ability to dominate in Q3/QL, but only the ability to compete at the very top.
Also, Rapha is pretty close to the mentioned level of excellence with his incredibly long streak of not being beaten at high profile tournaments, and the competition is stiffer in QL with Cypher and av3k being older with a more developed game and possibly styles better suited for Q3/QL and Cooller caring more again than he did in Q4. In fact, Cooller won the first 2 or 3 international Q4 tournaments, then had visa problems meaning he couldn't compete for half a year, and after losing that edge never made the effort to practice trying to be the best again.
rapha is definitely in the top 3 of smartest quake players which is why he has dominated for so long. However, tox had the best combat skills the quake community has ever seen. It wasn't just his bot like aim, it was his ability to know how the fight was going to go down and almost always come out on top regardless of the situation.
I did not cast that so you are incorrect about the individual that made that comment. In fact I do not generally cast duel because I don't play it and thus would not have much insight. Also I have watched all the major tournaments since around 2002 (including all of Q4), so I would 100% not have said that tox does not know t4.
Yes, you are right, and I am sorry for confusing you with For3cast, who was the guy seriously believing Tox wouldn't knox T4 that well along with his german co-caster. Horrible stuff.
I cast on www.levelupyourgame.net but mainly only TDM. We try to have casters that play or have played at a high level in each game type, and enjoy watching the matches they are covering. We attempt to add insight when possible rather then just describing what is happening on screen and always attempt to remain fairly focused on the game and on topic.
We are always looking for feedback on our streams and especially the commentary. I think nvc is a good example of somebody that is taking this on board and improving as a result.
I do appreciate that some shoutcasters (that are perhaps new to quake) will not know the history of the players and as a result could jump to the conclusion that tox was mainly a Q4 player and thus would not know T4. I think often when people shoutcast they make throwaway comments all the time just to fill airspace and every caster is guilty of such slip-ups anyway.
tox was just a floater in q3, what? he was one of the best ever - in tdm. he never took duel seriously until very very late when he made one attempt right before q4 came out. not exactly fair to judge him based on that.
besides, i'm pretty sure he was able to time items in q4 :p
I also had the feeling he didn't really try to time at zotac.
I mean if some with his experience tries to time, he wouldn't be wrong by 10 seconds that often.
