Actually, house and techno are pretty similar and it's quite easy to confuse the two. I've personally found that the two can mix very well together because they're both typically within the same range of tempos (anything between 125 and 132 is almost always the case with my collection of house and techno tracks). Hence, there is a hybrid genre called tech house.

house is house, house tries to be tekno with hard house, tekno is 160bpm->1000bpm.

all house musik is outside of pop music house, are wannabes who cant handle all the real scenes that are harder, so they try and fake them all with 100 sub genres of house musik

you can confuse house musik with uk happy hardcore, and confuse uk happy hardcore with nu skool trance and NRG,

you cant confuse tekno with house, unless your an american because they all know nothing
