I get wet pants just thinking about a Comic Con paired with an IEM event. That combo is $$$, for me at least.
So much better than Gamescom where all you could do really was sitting at the ESL booth, going for a smoke or taking a dump.

Oh and anyone knows if it's normal that you have to download and install QL at a live event? ENC finals looked like uber fail when the players just started downloading game data half an hour before the games were supposed to begin. I was sitting there for like an hour and they still weren't done half an hour before the trade fair was closing.

Not really, maybe I'm being dumb but Idra's the only America player on an international level. Maybe MLG will prove me wrong this weekend.

Well I haven't seen a lot from the Americans in any cups lately but Qxc advanced in his group in day9's king of the beta tournament and placed better than TLO/Dimaga/White-rA etc.
Also HuK has had some good results in the past even though he didn't do so well at gamescom I expect him to do better when he gains some live event experience.

On a different note does anyone know why IdrA and Artosis playing the NA IEM season although they're living in Korea? Seems like they're trying to dodge a potentially harder Asian qualification.

Just trying to figure it out if IdrA/Artosis would technically be allowed to play due to their nationality. But according to the IEM rules, which btw are the ones from Season IV downloaded from here, you aren't even allowed to participate in team games if you're not European or living in Europe.

Online is Online. We'll see what happens, but I'm not convinced these Americans can compete on an International stage. But to be fair no one at gamescom was amazingly impressive in my opinion, the game is still clearly young :).

Ye but the thing is you couldn't possibly play quake on european servers if you're living in Asia whereas you can in RTS games, IMO it would really suck if players could choose.

Of course a live event is a wholly different from online cups but I mean we all know how "well" strenx in dubai when he was inexperienced and now hes perfectly capable of placing quite high in any given international tournament.

I'm curious to see how the game will develop until the world championship finals, as of now Zerg is somehow super boring (not saying that T is OP), every game as zerg is the same for the first 10-15 minutes, you always have to defends and try to push the game out into mid-late game, there seems to be no way to be aggressive early on. It will be interesting to see whether blizzard will do something about it or the players figure out how to get some variety in Zerg's early game. Maybe we'll just have to wait until Heart of the Swarm will be released and Zerg gets some new units.

Well the american champion is dahang he is the one defending the title of american champion(even though that isn't half as prestigious as being European champion for obvious reasons.).
I know... i know rapha is the "world champion" but this isn't the world championship it is the american, so they should refer to dahang.
Anyway final will be dahang vs rapha and will be the only game worth watching.
rapha wins, except if k1llsen or stermy pretend to be dahang.

CZM and ZeRo4 have one last chance, this Monday, to qualify for the playoffs. CZM has been on and practicing and will play, but I haven't spoken to ZeRo4. 50/50 chance on him right now. Top 2 finishers qualify to the online playoff of 16. Top 8 after playoffs qualify for the LAN finals in NYC.

Would be epic if zero4 and czm qualify and then beat dahang and rapha in the semi's to be z4 vs czm in finals.

He seems to be beating everyone else on all the other maps though. Only person he's really losing to is ZeRo4 and to people on T7
