I am currently using the abyssus, which is fine... as long as you do the following:

- fix lift off using tape
- only use it at 450dpi
- buy razor goliathus speed
- don't use drivers

If you do the following, it works just as well as the MS mice, and I prefer the buttons and the cord.

That said I could have easily have stuck with my ms3.0

what's wrong with 1800 dpi ? i can notice some negative accel when playing with low sens and fps_max 101 in TF2 but usually my sens is higher in that game so i don' do fast and long swipes over the pad, btw zowie G-RF works perfectly too (jitter wise) can't notice any kind of jitter while i had plenty of it on most of my mousepads.

TBH you shouldn't have to do all that when your spending that amount of money on a mouse.
If i was spending £30+ on a mouse I would expect it to work flawlessly with no problems.

Well first time I've not used the ms3.0... I learnt my lesson. Since it's a razor mouse I don't expect it to last very long :)

they did make a left handed version but it uses the 3.5G sensors that doesn't work so i didn't recommend it.

The keyboard u could throw away :) Then u have still a kickass mouse which its worth the money.

Am I the only one who doesn't have tracking problems with the Xai? I'm not saying the mouse is perfect, but people seem to be exaggerating to a certain extent.

I don't have any problems with my G9x too. But im pretty high sens (12-14cm/360°) The only thing i noticed is, it really makes a diffrence to use the right size/height of mousefeeds (so the mouse is like 0,3mm over the pad) It took me some months to actually notice that. The mouse doesn't skip, just performs/ feels much worse if the liftoff is a tiny bit to high. That wasn't a problem with the G9 since its liftoff was like 2-3 cds heights anyways.

So when i think about the xai which uses the same sensor as the G9x, but has someting like 1mm auto liftoff or something like that.. maybe thats why some people claim the rate feels not constant. Maybe the perfect spot for tracking is more like 0,5 instead of 1,0 mm. That again is a question of the surface. On the other hand the xai probably wouldn't work for gaming, if it was even less liftoff, bcs the sensor is completly centered.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to describe it. I know there are problems with the Xai (scroll wheel), but in regards to tracking I really can't find the acceleration people talk about. I'm not saying it isn't there, but maybe it's just bad quality control on the earlier models?

After testing and comparing it with the newer 518 (which I believe uses the old DA sensor) I couldn't find any acceleration. Maybe I don't have the proper tools to compare the two, but just based on some really simple tests I couldn't notice any acceleration.

The only thing I notice is that the Xai feels a bit faster at 500 CPI compared to the MX518 at 500 CPI. However I'm sure that the fact that the shape and weight of the two are so different plus the difference in mouse feet of the both that maybe it's just an illusion. Or maybe that's the accel I'm feeling? But if it was that I think I would have noticed the accel when trying to do whip shots or etc in-game. As for your reference to sensitivity I would have to say I'm about the same sens as you at the moment (15-18cm/360), so I'm really baffled on this.

Then again, I know some people that use the Xai that think it's flawless and then some others that post on forums saying that the Xai is terrible and has loads of problems. Who knows, it could just be terrible quality control on SS' part.

My bad, for some reason I thought I had read somewhere that it did.

The Logitech MX518 and SteelSeires IKARI Optical use the Avago A3060 sensor.

The Deathadder, Salmosa and Diamondback 3G use the Avago 3688 sensor, which is exclusive for Razer.

Old MX518 uses A3080, which is kind of the same, the new one uses the A3080E.

Its a very nice mouse imo.

I used an intellimouse for a long time, and WMO before it. Also used a xai, which is quite a different feeling mouse sensor wise (feels like it needs more of a "shove" to get going O_o).

I like the pyra because its short, lightweight, has selectable 400/800/1600 dpi (I never use more than 800 tho), and has the same button layout as the intellimouse. It also feels like a ms mouse, sensor wise.

It has a low LOD and I can't tell if it has any prediction, if it does its a very small amount. And no -ive accel. I don't know about +ive accel as I use cl_mouseaccel anyway, but if it does have it, I don't notice it in other games.

Some people say the sensor being off centre could be annoying. But I found no real difference aside from sens feels a little bit higher because there is more of an arc when you move your wrist (sensor is closer to the button end of the mouse).

At first it did feel s little bit awkward after the smooth shape of the WMO etc. But after a while I got used to it and it feels almost perfect. But I never had a mouse I could say was 100% perfect :)

Only other things which are bad is you can't select 500hz in the drivers, its 1000hz only. And the mouse wheel button is a bit hard to push on mine.

I like that the sides are rubber instead of that rubber sprayed on stuff. I would have liked the rubber sprayed on stuff on the top though (its just normal plastic).

I don't like Roccat Mice. The Shape sucks imho.

What DPI?

default settings, 900dpi and 500hz with everything else turned off.

the wmo has perfect control up to 1.55m/s after that you will experience "negative acceleration". it's more or less the same with the xai, the "positive acceleration" kicks in around 1.5m/s. i cba to find the graphs for you, it's all here on esr already.

I switched back to the WMO after using both generic and gaming mice. WMO and Intellimouse are the best I have ever used.

Getting WMOs anyway is not that easy in Austria obviously

The Xai has the same sensor as the G9X from logitech I believe. It's the best sensor out on the market. I have the G9X and I wouldn't go back to any MS mice again.

Mind you, I've had like 15 different mice in past couple years. Razer being the shittiest (DA, Salmosa, Lachesis, and what not). Tried different Logitechs (mx 310, 518) and even those Zowie crap mice!

But now I tried the g9x and it is in every way better than the my 1.1a. Has no prediction (which is important for me) and tracks excellent. It is actually an improved version of the 1.1A.

The shape is bit weird. I didn't knew XAI had the same sensor otherwise I'd buy that mouse but I eventually got used to the shape. I like it alot!

The best sensor out on the market, is still the one from the razer 3G mice, period.
The problem with the high LOD comes from the IR-LED rather from the sensor itself.
