I still use r1ch's mod and r1gl/r1q2 for my Quake 2 playing. I play daily, too, and only recently added a brightskins pack.

Is "Quake 2 Kicker" kind of like nQuake or something?

Q2 need just "ONE new client" with all features and enhanceds of the other clients like r1q2,aprq2, egl, etc. Some like ezquake´s Quakeworld or something. All will be more simplies and cool.

No, but they do at least something for community (tournaments with prizes) while in EU no1 does nothing. We have a huge scene especially Poland.

What are you talking about? We had tournaments/leagues every autumn/winter/spring since the beginning of Quake 2. The past 9-10 years or so we have always had 'the summer' break which is still not over.

Since this got majored, I say we hi-jack the thread and turn it into a discussion about Q2 clients and add-ons.

I love my q2 setup, but I'd like to update my textures if anyone knows of a texture pack worth suggesting.

I am somewhat bemused that my Quake 1 looks so much better and more updated than my Quake 2 does.

Best textures for me are default or name's textures. Name's textures are included in Quick Quake2 Installer

q2 kicker is not a client. It's just the name of Jehar's customized release of aprq2. He made it so that new or existing players can start playing the game right away, without too much tweaking.

Well, I did at least take the texture folder from that q2kicker, and left the rest alone. I do like the textures better.
