I keep my XP around for the same reason I keep my CRT around. It's just better for competitive gaming.
For "pretty" gaming I boot into Vista (will be Win7 by this evening) and play on the 22" Samsung 226bw

Im NOT sure its only ingame. If somebody could give me a way to test mouse input lag outside of game Id appreciate it.

And I still have xp but Id like things to work properly on win7 as well.

There are no delay for clicks in W7, that would be a way too serious bug to appear this late after release... I myself have two W7 computers and dont have any lag between click and the response from computer... Its either placebo or then your mouse is fucked.

i had a mouse issue in quake on win7 with an wmo, which also was a delay but not only on clicks, but also on mouse movement. made me reinstall xp and im still on it :o

I have the same problem on my windows 7 computer, my other computer is windows xp with exactly the same settings and it feels much much better.

After speaking to multiple people, I think Quake Live is flawed in Windows 7 and I'm going to switch my other pc back to windows XP this weekend.

Im not sure maybe its with movement as well. Does anybody have a way I can measure it?

EDIT: It could be that its sound delay and as a result of that Im thinking its mouse delay. Either way I need a way to measure for certain.

You could try QL in practice mode, I've noticed mouse differences between practice mode and playing online.

Honestly go back to Windows XP if you want to play quake live, I've got a very similiar issue and have spoken with other quakers here who have windows 7 and they seem to encounter the same problem.

Quake3 feels perfect, yet Quake Live feels rubbish. Its been one of the main reasons I don't play these days but I'd rather go back to Windows XP now. :/

When you use XP does QL actually feel how it's supposed to? or just a bit better than it does in Windows 7?

The other night I installed Quake3 (1.32) and I can confirm that the mouse feels _drastically_ better in Quake3 on Windows 7 (64 bit, in my case) than QL does.

I feel like there deserves to be a lot more reports about this issue than there is. Do not a lot of people play on Win7? or are we isolated incidents of this behavior?

i remember a brief discussion about this in some reaction test thread here on esr.

afair, if you set win7 to highest performance settings and deactivate all eye candy, the delay will almost go away. But i remember noctis statint that if you start up QL, and compare fullscreen play, to windowed mode play, you will still see that in windowed mode, there is a significant delay to all mouse clicks and movement.

Two people I know have just turned off the "aero" theme for windows 7 and noticed a difference with mouse movements in quake live.

yeah but as i said, i think the problems are only present if you're in windowed mode.

I've been playing it with the aero theme off tonight and there is a noticeable difference in ql with it off compared to having it on and this is while i'm in full screen :/

by disabling aero, you mean just unchecking the "enable aero peak" checkbox, or setting the whole thing to maximum performance and having a ugly desktop ? :(

funny to read these experiences as i thought i experienced that delay the last few times i played. first i thought i was just tired or not really into it. i've read about this issue a while ago somewhere but as i play fullscreen anyway i didn't really care and already forget it was existent.
with the last ql-update i think the delay also effects fullscreen.. i didn't measure anything so i hope its only imagination :x

Hrmm, I don't have any other issues with other games. I don't have clicking problems though..just the random sensitivity issue.

weird, using win7 here too and no delay. maybe it has to do with 32 vs 64 bit windows?

64 bit razer driver installed and i think i have no delay even tho i remember i started aim worse after installing win7.

Does turning threaded optimization off from your gfx control panel and changing the process afffinity on just 1 core for your browser help at all?

ATI doesnt have threaded optimization, and I doubt its related to multiple cores, worked fine on xp with the same hardware.

There is no mouse delay, the delay is in the sound, which translates to lag in most people's heads.

Apparently its a known issue that occurs with some audio cards. The guys in those threads have it with microphone delay but its the same problem for us, output lags.

There is no mouse delay.

Oh... so 7 is out until this audio delay is ms patched then..
