never did play the f2p version, it was cheap enough to buy on a whim.

the game is very awesome if you want to kill some time though. it will be interesting to see what the final game will be like.

Free version isn't anything like the survival alpha. You get infinite of all blocks, and there is no monsters/crafting/health/item collection/anything. It's basically just building with infinite legos, which is fun for a few minutes, but then totally boring. Griefers make it even less worth playing, and build bots make all the really impressive-looking stuff mean nothing.

/r/minecraft is really picking up steam, and X's Adventures in Minecraft is a great introduction
