Calms me down and makes me try harder in the right areas rather than just raging at how shit I'm doing. My biggest problem in Quake is getting comfortable which usually get worse while battered :)

I get a bit jumpy and more likely to flinch easily. I also forget timings really easily and play more "in the now" than to a plan.
On the other hand, I feel as though my movement and aiming is slightly better, especially flick rails.
Overall, the disadvantages outweigh whatever advantages there may be for me.

ive never tried playing stoned but, my biggest issue with quake is getting motivated to play. most of the time im playing cause i have fuckall else to do (inb4 get a life)

if getting high makes me motivated then who knows, i might play really good :P

It makes the game more fun when ur not playing serious which means its more motivation :D

Other way round for me, fun = no motivation, competiting = serious business.

Ye I think its more fun when its competetive, but then I strive to play my best, and weed does not help me. But if I'm just playing around some CA or FFA, weed does the work :).

As I don't smoke, I preffer being in the 1 or 2 pint buzz stage.. I usually play abit better.. then I hit 3/4/5 pints and my aim goes to shit. :-(

I have more fun but am not as good while in that condition.

weed just makes it so you can practice longer and think deeper imo.. your performance is not enhanced at the moment even though it might feel like it

I don't know if weed makes me player better or worse (i'd guess, I play about the same stoned or sober), but it does make me want to play more, and enjoy the game more when I am playing.

This. Aim is roughly the same but i might not concentrate as much with some weapons.

Quake for me and i am sure many of you has the magical draw to it when your brain just switches off and it becomes meditative. Maybe talking complete bullshit but you know that "ZONE" you get when everything hits and all dodging and weapon combos all go to plan and you are already doing the next action in pure automation? Id have to say that FFA does this most for me but sometimes a pickup as well provided people weren't playing as teams lol.

This is probably the main reason i loved quake so much.

only playing lower skilled 2v2 / 3v3 ca when baked :D duel/tdm requires too much concentration. although sometimes it sometimes feels like i am one with the game, my play suffers in every regard... still a lot of fun if you are just messing around :D

I never found it really benefits me or makes me play any worse. I'd say sometimes I think of more creative ways to frag and play more defensively when I'm stoned. However, my timing definitely goes out the window, and sometimes it makes my aim go to shit too. But that can happen on any day during any given game, I'm just inconsistent as hell regardless of being stoned or not.

Gotta say FFA is a lot of fun when baked, I know a fair few stoners who play CA when stoned too. Obviously those are more "in the now" modes, with limited to no timing or forward planning necessary, and it suits them well.
Duel on the other hand can be really hard if its a brain game. But if you are owning it tends to feel more epic and you can get a nice momentum going, however I find if I lose that momentum the lazyness kicks in hard and I cba to slow the game down to regain control. Its not so black and white though. Overall I'd say the worst thing about it is that it can potentially be distracting and throw you off your game. But experienced players can sit on a server winning duels all day stoned out of their heads simply because they've been doing it for years! Its when those tough guys show up it can show its weaknesses...

TDM/CTF is somewhere in between imo, depends how serious you play.

There are some other things, mostly in duel, if you get nerves it won't help, but make them worse, in fact anything you feel it will amplify. On the other hand if used occasionally it can provide a very significant perspective shift on the game which may be extremely useful if you are stuck trying to think of ways to improve.

Bottom line for me is, its mostly a recreational thing, not something that would help in a tourney. Its better if you want to burn through lots of practice or something.

What your learn unstoned is availabe mainly unstoned and viceversa, in general not only gaming. Keep praccing in the mode you prefer and the timing will come.

Weed makes the game feel like slow motion so you can aim and think many times more than normally. You also feel that you are INSIDE the game.

Also sativa based weed doesn't make you lazy or slow, it's very stimulating, and almost a bit speed-like but with control of your mind at same time. Seems like people here with negative comments have smoked only crappy street weed or nothing at all :).

But if you get too nervous or pressured like in some duel it makes your heart pumping very fast etc which doesn't feel that nice. So the tip is to just relax ;)

imo it is a waste to smoke weed and play egoshooters.
smoking weed in the nature at a sunny day and just relaxing is soo wonderful, i would never waste this drug for an egoshooter

I'm a beer fan when having 'fun' sessions. When it's serious business time I'm sober and drink water. Weed is a waste, it's all about the brewskies.

I've never found a liking for alcohol in general, so it doenst work at all for me in Quake either ,but people have difrent preferences I guess =)

I cant remember which armour i have just picked up so it makes running a pattern really hard .. Haha

Oh ill top and ca of ffa server , but something that requires thinking just doesnt go to well when your blazzzzed.
