portabello is a safe place to start for a good mushroom experience. not too dry and not too moist. goes well in burgers and even stuffed with cheese and mustard. beware though, eating more than 3 can lead to bad gas and will make you unpopular in a social environment.

Thanks for the advice, but it's going to get super embarrassing if I pull a box of portabellos out at a private party. I wont even try to think of the amount you need to eat just to get a mild trip going ;) Although you shouldn't ignore the placebo effect. When we were in high school, my friend's little sister wanted to try weed but he wouldn't let her. So we took some ordinary tobacco and made a joint for her. Now she smoked cigarettes regularly so we figured she would find out. But nope..she started to feel dizzy and kept talking about how you reeeeally could feel the buzz and what a great experience it was :P

Oh I'm definately a drug rookie. I've smoked weed in social occasions but that's it. If you were to find a common denominator for those bad experiences, are you sure it isn't caused by too much of the drug or mixing it with other stuff like alcohol. You know what chemists say, "There are no toxic chemicals, only toxic levels." Drinking too much coffee or water will kill you, even inhaling 100% oxygen will eventually. It's the same about alcohol or mushrooms in my head. Today there is a maximum limit on the legal amount of thujone in absinthe, in order to not harm people. So if you use your head and don't act macho when you drink/do drugs (like ripper ;), then you'll be fine. If you read wikipedia on cocaine, you'll see that the tripe people eating the leaves aren't addicted or have the side effects that you get when you take it pure. The leaves are 0,25% cocaine while street coke can be in the 50-90% range.

it's been almost 10 years now but i still remember the three people i knew from school and did sports with who never recovered from their shrooms-filled amsterdam trip.

funny thing is, i even met one of them a few weeks back in a park and played some ball with him, he's ok-ish but i wouldn't wanna trade with him.
bottom line: one out of three finished school, none finished university, two out of three developed heavy speech problems and every single one had to get clinical treatment.

of course that is not the norm (and i know lots of other people who had a great time). they were together in a larger group and took the same as everyone else. today it's easy to say why those had such an experience (and should have never ever taken drugs) because their problems are visible to anyone who knows them just a bit.

20-30 for the first time, just to know how it feels (I had huge and GREAT euphoria + amazing visual effects). You have full control of yourself (you won't get the idea to jump off the window or run under a car) yet everything is quite different (in a positive way). However you don't feel time at all and during your trip you forget about all things going right now in your life. If you really wanna try them, take them with a friend, it's so much more interesting and fun. I don't recommend eating 60-70+ or more, because some people can't handle the feeling and they're being overwhelmed by it. But then again, one can eat 100 and have a blast time, though for some it's just too much to handle.

I've heard it's quite similar to LSD (never tried it).

Like with any drug you've never tried, start with a small amount and see how it affects you. Once you have a good idea, you can increase the amount (but not by too much at a time), until you find what's comfortable for you.

Both in my case. It definitely rewires your brain chemistry in some manner, you never quite feel like the same person you were. But it is a hell of a good time if you do them correctly :)

In terms of being a 'hard' drug, I'd say acid, e/molly, DXM, DMT, and salvia are all pretty strong mind altering substances. Typical narcotics or amphetamines like heroin, painkillers, cocaine, meth, and benzos such as xanax don't really seem to rewire your brain as the hallucinogens do.

Don't even consider doing it in any 'party' setting.

Key things:
-psilocybin
-mild dose
-calm environment
-friends you trust
-no strangers or hyperactive/neurotic people
-do it with somebody who's done it before, or at least a very calm and stable person you know well who can act as a 'rock'.

You're gonna be in a heavy fever-like daze, screwed up for probably 6-7 hours, which will feel like about a day at least, if not more, and you'll be unable to snap out of it or be normal during that time. It will be especially tough without a trip leader/shaman, so don't overdose that shit, be patient.

Calm and/or happy music if at all, stay off the Shpongle shit. Bring fruits, juice or other things with a strong flavour.

Tru, definitely. Also do it in the daytime. I have no idea what happens if you fall asleep while under heavy influence of that stuff.

I don't think it's even possible to fall asleep during a mushroom trip, or any other hallucinogenic trip for that matter, as opposed to falling asleep moments after the intake. Seeing as you have a window of aprox 30-60 minutes before it kicks in (depending on if you had anything to eat beforehand)

Try this, is or was legal in Germany :=). But wouldn't recommend to take it alone or if you have any sort of depression. I never took it nor will I but a friend of mine tried it a few times.

Salvia is good. I've done lots of trips, but Salvia really suprised me. The come up is really fast because you smoke it. There is no 30 minutes to get 'used' to the chemical. But its too short:P

I had this for about 4-5 months after, during the trip I could see people behind my eyelids. And then for a few months onwards, when I was going to sleep and I closed my eyes, I sometimes saw the same people, staring at me. Still happens once in a while, but not often, or strong. But it's pretty damn freaky.
