Vo0 beat him in the online group stage yes but lost to DaHanG in the semi finals on LAN. They are both great players, arguments can be made for both of them.

As much as I think 6 isn't quite enough and 4 is maybe a bit too much, it does make it interesting when it comes to the actual event in a way due to the players rarely playing each other.. It causes a bit of excitement and rivalry, eh?

ZeRo4 isn't attending the American finals so he's not going. Vo0 is attending the American finals so he qualifies from there (if he qualifies).

Yeah I figured as much. Wasn't it because he couldn't get time off work? Either way, ZeRo4 there would be profit. Even if he can't go, just stick Vo0 in there which frees up one more Euro spot :P

Let's say we have 7 qualified europeans: k1llsen, cooller, cypher, av3k, stermy, strenx, noctis/spart1e/fox/toxjq/etc.
There is only one american player who can fight with them - rapha. Dahang will 90% lose to any of them, other americans are probably equal or worse than dahang.
So basically, we have 3 americans that can do nothing than fill last places and at least 3 europeans who can actually challenge top/mid players would not get a slot.
I'd say 9 euros, 2 americans, 1 noctis would be better division that would produce much more interesting matches.

Either way, we don't know what CZM is made of. If you've watched him he has all the brain, is lacking the aim and the knowledge of newer maps.

Dahang when he is IN SHAPE can pretty much take on any of those players. He has taken maps and made plenty a close game with cooller and others. He has not been in shape, we'll see if he fixes that.

vo0 is a lot better than he ever was. If you look at his profile he is constantly practicing, and I could certainly see him being a contender.

More rapha/cooller finals, plz.

4 is too many for America, this shouldn't really even require any kind of debate because it's so painfully obvious.

What about Asian IEM finals? are they gone?
Will Australia have a internal qualifier now instead of sending players to Asian IEM?

If so thats dissapointing because it was looking like we were going to send more people over then just Noctis.

Why does the ESL insist on only having 12 players for a world finals? Why not have 16?

yes, im always thinking the same.. why even have a limit, just let everyone play and make it a big tourney.. i mean what would it cost them? nothing really.. and it would be a great thing for the spectators...

all those qualifiers and group stages are part of the IEM, so it is in fact one huge tournament.


Also with the current format: 2 groups + SE for top three of each group, we get:
30 group stage matches , where more top players meet in the group stages + 6 SE matches

with 16 players, we'd usually have 4 group + SE for the top 2 of each group:
24 group stage matches, with less top players meeting there + 8 SE matches.


So, the average skill is higher with 12 players, and we get to see 4 more matches* for the cost of less SE matches, which are potentially more exciting.

I suppose costs for set-up and so on also plays a role for the ESL, but imo 12 players in this system are not that much worse than 16.
