You could remove the LCD to get a lower weight (but not much).

If you never accidentaly hit the right side buttons you could "switch" one of them with the CPI button to get another usable button.

If you think the side button could need more or less force you could change them.

btw, does your Xai have Omron D2F-J01F (black plunger) or D2FC-F-7N (white plunger) main switches?

The microswitches are black with a white switch membrane, i'm assuming that's what you mean by plunger.

They're pretty bog standard, nothing too special.

THE LCD is suprisingly heavy, and i did consider removing it, but it really doesn't make THAT much difference :P

I can't see how you would be able to switch one of the right side buttons with the CPI button, i would LOVE to be able to map this key to something, as it would make a perfect ventrilo key.

Fairly certain because the Integrated Circuit Board is not able to be remapped it can't do that, and the drivers won't let me change it, haha.

Jep, that "switch membrane" is the plunger.
Looks like you have D2FC-F-7N (it's written on the side) but there are also Xais with D2F-J01F around.

Rewire one of the side switches with the CPI switch directly on the second PCB or on the connector to the main PCB.
Shouldn't be that hard if you know what you're doing.

Dunno, all I know is the 2 differnet switches which are basically the same. :D
