It's like a fucking broken record. All these "top" players sound like it's a form of torture to play quake.

Yeh that was also part of the thought process with dropping out of EMS. It can be awkward to be commentating on rivals, and missing lots of opportunities to cast with matches clashing.

Really a ridiculous statement, especially if to rephrase it like this: "my motivation for QL dropped a lot when they originally forbade to shoot the huge area of empty space around a model and still get a hit registered".
Even if id software is (hypothetically) willing to change the game to make it better, clearly they will never reintroduce this kind of buggy behaviour again, so if you liked the game before, then you should try to formulate your needs in terms of weapon balance or other game mechanics features that they actually can modify without looking like complete idiots (imagine the changelog: "- Introduced the old oversized hitbox again by the request from whiny TDM players that actually don't even want to play the game; now it doesn't follow model size at all and you can hit your enemies while aiming in a completely different direction unless they are rotated in a specific way in relation to the map in which case you almost have to hit the actual model"). Otherwise it's just pointless whine about how good it was in good old days until bad id software screwed it all for us.

Empty space was over exagerated by people who watched demos and saw railguns 5meters behind the opponent, and then assumed that to be why people hit the percentages they did. 9 times out of 10 it's just the demo and not how the person saw it on their screen. The old hitboxes did have an effect on a certain angle, however now that we have these new ones - all we need is a small increase in size!

It changes absolutely nothing. The best aimers will still hit more as the weaker aimers, regardless of the size of the hitbox.

Exactly :) But the main point here is that it's more fun, and it allows the higher pingers to play on a more even playing field. I would never disagree that the better players will still hit more regardless of the size - and i argued that when they wanted to reduce them in the first place :P

i think its more fun to hit air rockets and a little bit of LG and to actually hit some PG even if my ping is above 20 (fix that id!) so itl actually show ive been playing the damn game for a decade D:

just a small inflation of a few percent would possibly make the game more enjoyable. heck it might even bring some new folks to the game cause they wont feel like they horribly suck at it, and we need fresh meat else QL wont survive ;>

Obviously I want accurate hit boxes. I just want bigger ones then we have now with models that fit correctly.

I enjoy the new hitboxes, sure it's fun hitting and hearing some nice hitbeeping.
But it goes both ways, you get hit more as well when you should not have been. It was to easy to aim with the old hitboxes, the current ones are perfect.

I wanted smaller hit boxes or at least more accurate hit boxes, but as soon as I tested the change the game just wasn't that fun anymore. It feels like an effort to aim now and I think it actually puts more of an emphasis on aim and takes the game away from tactics. With the current balance rocket is also so dominant.
