he dominated the zotac cups before and had a very nice timing regime down ("mistake!" he was reminding his opponents when they didn't split up mh/ra pickups). but timing is only so far useful as to know what to do with the additional knowledge. thats where he unfortunatly failed @ lan events.

in eswc stermy kind of surprisingly went into the limelight and strenx unfortunatly HAD TO lose to stermy to give him the chance to get into the semifinals thanks to a possible 3-way-tie between stermy-avekkk-rapha iirc (whereas stermy never won vs him in an important ql tournament)

at quakecon he did better. vs an almost raging cooller in winners bracket. he seemed to be soooo close to a win but in the end loses. even vs. cypher he was one of the players who came closest to the belarussian.

I am disappointed as he could be considered in the top group with av3k, cooller, k1llsen, stermy, cooller, rapha, cypher and cooller now if he was practicing and continuing to learn. but to me it seems he's given up.

I always liked strenx. You could see his potential in all the games he played, I mean cypher did like 5 comebacks like around 10-0 to beat strenx, but it showed that strenx was leading and could have beat cypher many times over, but failed due to lack of tactics.

I mean I played a duel recently where I hit 75% rail, like 20 shots i was just spamming it owning the shit out of the guy i was playing, not even bothering to get items and the lil fucker still got me to overtime.

When you have that sort of aim advantage you kind of throw tactics out the window and just want to hit a bitch, amirite?

Strenx with some good prep (playing rapha 24/7 for 2 months) should be quite smart.

Since rapha never fights you with the gun you want, so strenx's aim becomes obsolete and will have to use some actual tactics to trap him

cooller and strenx practiced quite a bit during the last 6 months, and you can see how both of them improved quite a bit, so your post might hold quite some truth, but it's def. exaggerated



it's not as easy as you think it is, aim and brain are intertwined quite a bit.

with higher aim you don't have to position yourself so standardized I'd say, that means that you can surprise your opponent way better AND more often

or

in a fight for a YA or RA (when both players are high in stack already) he doesn't have to go for the item anymore, he can use position and aim advantage to deliver the same/more amount of dmg to his opponent (even with the item lost)

it is smart to abuse your aim, not to just play your standard game as in "1:15 mh, 1:30 ra, 1:40 ya" rinse, repeat
in control you can easily ignore items if you have a just-so-small stack advantage and can manage to put your opponent in a bad position as he will be expecting you at the item

vs. strenx you would want to avoid the open areas/bridge/.. on dm6. those things limit your opponents movement pretty hard

there are so many things to consider @ this topic and it's still hard for me to think about it when pro players duel each other, as everybody of them has very nice aim

we are level above random skilled players and under top players. We can take some maps from top4 players in world, but we can't win major tournaments. Maybe it's lack of talent (becose most of us played this game for long), maybe other factors..

Strenx lost pretty tight to all the previous tournament winners. K1llsen, Cypher and Cooller. I mean all his games were pretty close so I hope he will have a comeback because he is a strong player and besides k1llsen he is the one who improved the most over a year. 1 week ago, after playing fazz etc ... he realizes he was like a clown with that showmatch. So he wasn't nice at all, and refuse to do showmatch again.

It was funny. I know you hate the guy but this showmatch was one of the most epic things I have seen so far in eSports. Dunno but for me it was quite entertaining. The guy developed a lot over the year. He might have a difficult character and not everyone can't stand his attitude but I prefer players like him who are unique and not afraid of doing stuff.
