Event: EC XXII

We are in the fourth match week with only one more left to be played in the group stage. While in Group A we got two group leaders with 3 wins and 0 losses (4Kings and alpha), Group B has METSU, FLiNE and iM as leaders. Unfortunately NK dropped the cup due to not having enough players interested in ql anymore. Check rankings for full overview.

I'm sorry, we never dropped a cup before or even defaulted a single game in years and now this shit...
Last weeks we had hard time scheduling matches because of players' availability and it was getting worse day by day. We barely can find one day per week to play and that wasn't enough.
Latest match against 4K was both, cause of this decision and consequence of our inactivity. Of course, we never expected to beat them as they play for sure the best tdm in europe, but losing with a such gap it was a great upset.
Playing at this level without praccing is pointless, also we are a bit tired of q3/ql after almost 10 years, so prolly this made some players quit QL at all. You will say to find some subs, but I don't want a merc team, I just kept playing QL because of my friends and have no reason now.
I want to apologize to admins and every team because the cup was running smoothly 'till now.
Maybe we'll see on the next good game, or maybe not cause we're getting older and it sucks :(

I don't get it why teams are trying to qualify for tournaments and then they realize that they are not able to participate at those tournaments...

Yes we do.
If i could find a contact page or something on esl shitty website I would have it done

And ofc, we played the qualifiers and then dropped out just to prevent other teams to join the cup and make QL fail
We are evil.

I hope there wont be any more teams dropping as that might affect the number of clans advancing to playoff :/

I must say this has been a pretty good season.
According to EC cup page:
Group A 3rd place playoff spot is still pretty much up for grabs and it will either go to xt or dr.
Will be interesting to see whether 4k or alpha takes the nr1 spot of the group. That really makes it exciting group stage till the end.

Group B is somewhat already decided unless aCtion manages to win against METSU. If there has been a reason to practice hard.. this is it!
FLiNE will most likely win against iM although nothing is written in stone yet. If iM wants to absolutely secure 3rd place they will have to win one map (in case aCtion gets away with their best case scenario).
And as in group A the last matchweek seems to be reserved to determine the nr1 spot in the group.

something along the lines of "seem to be the favorite" would have been acceptable, imo. ;)

the "nothing is written in stone yet" part is redundant and obvious, it doesn't affect your previous statement.

How else to explain your rage when you're bothered by how the first part of the prediction was worded.

You also seem to disregard what i said about lineups being different in some of those matches. While iM lineup is consistent and predictable, FLiNE's lineup is not. The outcome of the match will depend on that very thing. I'm assuming they will use their best lineup.

To answer your previous post (didn't have time for that yesterday)..
FLiNE actually did better against faces than iM did. Eventho IMO, FLiNE could have used a better lineup against them they still made more frags against faces than iM did.

FLiNE also beat aCtion in two maps and iM had to play the third map to win the match.

Anyway, i guess we will see what happens tonight..

EDIT: Oh and i didn't run out of valid points, i ran out of time to reply, i still have stats on my side :)

Frag difference would have been much higher if they picked better lineup. As i mentioned before It was also more than that.. they also won aCtion in two maps while iM lost one map.

Statistics and apparently majority of users that used CBooky were on FLINEs side. Like i said, they had a better chance of winning. If you're bothered that i somehow insulted iM by using those words that you like to quote so much.. well i can tell you that i don't have anything agaist iM or any preference for FLiNE whatsoever. I tell it as it is.

And as you most likely already found out, i was right.

huh? You don't even read my comments, do you? :D
I've already put forward that it was a close game, as expected from two teams belonging to the top 6 in Europe.

Of course Frontline were the favorites on paper because they have placed better than immune in the past.
However, saying that ANY team "will most likely win" against their direct contenders for a playoff spot, is just stupid. It's pretty funny that you don't see this by yourself.

I never said "immune will surely take this, 'cause front sucks!", I can't understand why you would see this so black and white.

passive would have been something like "given their current position in the ranking, a seem to be the favorites in their match against b, but both of them are competing for a playoff spot and surely won't give it away easily."

"most definitely" is a way stronger claim than "most likely", since the word "definitely" leaves no room for doubt, while "likely" leaves room for an opposite result. ;)

Definitely always expresses a stronger stance than the likelyhood of something, with or without adjectives such as more or most that are added to both of them anyway. It should go without saying if you know the meaning of the two words.

To say something is "definitely X" is unambiguous; a clear statement. It rules out alternative result in the mind of the claimant.

To say something is "most likely" going to happen simply means that the odds of X happening is greater than the alternative, 60-70% seems like reasonable use of this phrase. It does not however rule out the possibility of an alternative result in the mind of the claimant.

Anyway, in your own words you equate Most likely to We can expect this to happen. I agree, but how does that fit with your previous interpretation in #61, where you saw no difference between saying most likely, but not written in stone to: "A will win against b, unless a doesn't show up and b gets a default win".
That's not even in the same ballpark when it comes to interpreting a claimants thoughts on an impending match, since the second statement implies that victory for A lies in the mere formality of showing up. Hardly what Slajer meant.

there are two meanings for "most likely":

a) there are many possibilites and one of them is "most likely" which doesn't necessarily mean that its probability is higher than 50 percent.

b) if one certain event can either happen or not happen, then "most likely" means that this event will happen in all probability, meaning AT LEAST 80 %.

and the phrase "x will most likely win against y" obviously fits into b), which means that we can pretty safely expect x to win against y.

would be nice if a native speaker confirmed this, but I'm rather sure about it.

(edit: funny how you always turn "almost definitely" into "definitely" ;))

"most likely" is more than roughly a 2/3 odd, isn't it?

i'd say that "most likely" is 85% and "almost definitely" is 90-95%, but either way that's a weird estamation for two teams that have been on a level playing field in the past.

Did u ever heard about motivation thing? vs faces for example I played ill, I even did't want to play, but I had to, cos without me we where only 3... Players like Cooller can't find any kind of motivation vs teams like faces. Sad, but true (C). I agree, we won all our matches very close, and it looks like we are not in good shape etc. But u must judge teams by main matches, not group stage imho. For exmaple on ospdm6 vs iM we where leading 40 frags on 17th min, but in the end it was only ~10 frags. As for me I start loosing concetration when we lead so much, and I like to play close matches more. When it comes to teams like METSU, we all concetrate and play our best.

Yes they do.
If teams have the same number of wins then you compare the outcome between the tied teams. If there is a 3 way tie (each team beat the other one) then you look at NET between maps won and maps lost.
