Would need 1on1 CA league tbh :P. Mappool could be (for 2on2 & 1on1) :
thunderstruck, hellsgateredux, hearth, asylum, windowpain/somewhatdamaged

But pls get rid of hellsgate (wrong place is... wrong, random, whatever, and hellsgateredux is better anyways), almostlost (it's either endless pixel rail camp or random close range rl spam cuz of the lack of space in the main regroup areas, no skill needed, really), the random FFA dm maps and campgrounds (it just sux for CA, especially 1on1/2on2, cuz the map is too big, endless RJ spam, too much camp @ rail or bridge/rl, bad spawns, etc etc).

And then i might participate for 1on1 :P, and play 2on2 more seriously :), but really atm i just can't give a fuck (and i'm not the only one there) cuz of the crappy mappool...

The mappool for the next season for 2v2 is going to be just that m8, want both somewhatdamaged and windowpain so considering either remove asylum or adding another map not sure though, possibly just add hellsgate as alot of ppl like both or even prefer hellsgate (im one :)

yeah, if a lot of people like hellsgate, well, then add it, i mean, it's still an ok map, jus that imo redux is beter cuz there's no wrong place and if you want to play defensive it's better, less random, more space :).

imo the best maps are : thunderstruck then hellsgateredux then hearth.
playable maps are : asylum & hellsgate.
and maps that need to be played more : somewhatdmgd and windowpain.

the other maps (campgrounds etc etc) aren't even playable imho, it's just not interesting at all to play duel/tdm maps on CA (except for hiddenfortress maybe). You know, back in the day i used to play quite a lot of ra3 so when you taste some of the ra3 small CA maps, well, you realize that they are much more suitable for CA play than any duel/tdm maps :P. Hopefully id will add more small CA maps in the future, especially maps like ra3map1 arena1 etc :).

yes, from your clueless pov, you don't need any map knowledge etc...
when you watch rapha play dm6, if you're not a good/very good dueler yourself, all you will see is mainly his nice rockets, his pretty nice rail shots, his pretty good movements all around the map, you'll be impressed when he'll make 2-3 frags in a row, etc etc... But when you listen to him commentate his own gameplay, then you realize that it's not only about "ok i get the rail, let's make some nice 70% acc with it", if you know what i mean...
Actually it's exactly the same for 1on1 CA, except that everything happens so fast that if you're not a very experienced "CAer", you won't notice anything special, only 2 guys hitting at each others. Just like in regular duel, it's also a matter of "brain" (or whatever you call it), some people are aim whores, so they don't think too much, but others really think before shooting, if you know what i mean. If you want to be the best 1on1 CA player ever, you need everything --> insane aim, insane dodges, very good movements and the ability of never being outsmarted by your opponent. It's not cuz there's no item control that suddenly it all becomes a spam fest, camp land etc... If the maps aren't too big and specially designed for 1on1/2on2 CA, then it's far from being camp land, +back fest, trust me.
Also, mastering the dodges, the round start, the positions, the weapons usage are even more important in 1on1 CA than in regular duel, why ? Cuz you don't have your map control or your stack to save you if you don't aim well enough or dodge well enough. Overall ofc you have to focus on less things at the same time, but that also means that you have more focus on your aim/dodges/movements. So basically, someone practicing 1on1 CA for 10 years will always be better than someone practicing duel for 10 years, in 1on1 CA, i mean. Ofc, the 1on1 CA player will pretty much lose every duel match vs the expereienced dueler, so what ? He's still better at 1on1 CA.

1) 1on1 CA is called DA, which stands for Duel Arena. If you played RA3/CPM or even OSP back in the day, you would understand that...

2) It's like saying that there's more strategy @ TDM than @ regular duel. It's called teamplay, not strategy.

Love it, u never play RA2 it had about 5-8 1v1/2v2 arenas and a clan arena, just like RA3.

also, it's not cuz hellsgateredux is a bit more complex than thunderstruck than suddenly it becomes more 'tactical'. Keep in mind that sometimes you don't have enough time to think about your 'tactics', basically cuz it's quake... Also, when the map is too complex, it's harder for the one playing tactically aswell. Then it's a bit more random because you just CAN'T calculate or predict everything to perfection, even if you're rapha :P.
I agree tho that you can be a bit more sneaky/tricky on hellsgateredux, and overall it's a bit harder to shaft whore, but it's still possible, trust me. Only depends on the players styles.
Btw, there's way enough possibilities of 'tactical' play in thunderstruck, mainly cuz of the 'tunnel' and the fact that if you fall down it's really hard to get up without being at a disadvantage (and often a serious one), and the map scale, just like overkill, is quite large compared to a regular duel map. No selfdamage also opens many rooms for what i would call 'creative play'. And if you're more a rail/defensive rl player, then you can still try to get out of opponent's range at start or after the 1st close range rocket, and then it's only a matter of positions switches with well placed rl spam and pixel rails from the right angles. For that you also need to hear your opponent and make good predictions of his movements, really it's no different than regular duel there.
I personally like both thunderstruck & hellsgateredux, both are obviously different maps but still good in their own ways. But if i had to choose i would still pick thunderstruck, cuz i like FIGHTING, just like most of the DA (Duel Arena, or 1on1 CA, whatever you call it) players. We don't like when there's endless cat & mouse action or when it's only about outsmarting your opponent but 0% about skill, if you know what i mean :). I personally like LG fights or RL fights a lot, even when i lose, i just like when you can clearly say "Ok, this guy is the best LG user ever" or "Ok, this guy has just sick sick rockets", you know. But in regualr duel it's hard to say who has the best LG/RL/RG, because there's SO many different situations, and often when the players engage a fight they are not equally stacked, really duel is about something else than only 'raw/pure' skill, if you know what i mean. That's fine, i have nothing against regular duel, actually i even like it (when i don't rage and i'm in a good mood :D), and it's nice to watch the pros play i admit it :).

The main problem atm with DA is the lack of 'seriousness', i mean, people tend to think that DA is a dumbed down version of duel, which is so wrong tbh, it's just a different approach of quake, both are good in their own ways. That's why when you play @ pub servs, most people have no clue how to play properly whatsoever, they think it's only about shooting the opponent just like in q3amphi (or even warmup), and the one that does the most dmgs wins... And even when you watch 2 good players play, sometimes you don't understand a shit except about 50% LG, 80% RL, 70% rail, if you know what i mean, and it's even worst when both players got the same style of play. But really if pros players like rapha got paid to play this, if there were more tourmanents etc, everyone would start to study and discover all the hidden strategies/tactics, and learn how to master them. And what i'm saying isn't only words, actually there's many many tips you can give to a med skilled player who just play DA to relax or have some fun. But often you don't even need to apply them because the opponent just lacks skill, then all you have to do is outaim him, and rape, and i have to admit that in this case it can be really zzzzz after a while.
If you play a decent DA player, who knows all the basics and like to play with his 'brain', then sometimes it can be really tough, trust me, and that even if you're supposed to have more aim overall than him. That's why in this case, you have to focus on the game as much as you can, be prepared for almost everything, don't let yourself being outsmarted, and get some motivation out of your arse.
Tbh i like when it's almost only about 60% LG or 100% RL/RAIL too, i like watching a plyer who got INSANE aim for example, or insane dodges/movements, i dunno, i just like the simplicity of it and i like when it's kind of instinctive, just like 2 fucking bears/lions/tigers fighting for their territory :PPP. And aim comes from the brain aswell, if we had money to make some serious research about how the aim (and i would even say 'raw skill' there) work and what is the best way to follow to improve it as fast as possible, then we could write a whole book about it, trust me :P.

DA with proper mappool, with a decent ladder system, with more tournaments, and with more players, would OWN. I would be on top of my diamond league, no doubt, with like 4000+ pts, bwahahahahahah.

yes, i agree with you, Kirua is a high tier CA player, but he doesn't play much these days.

And about his m8 hisoka, i would say the same, except that he's less individual, i mean, Kirua is better than him in 1on1 situations etc, but hisoka has strong rl and is a good CA team player with quite a lot of experience.
