Difference is that at 50cm/360 accel is beneficial so he probably likes it. Exactly the same reason I like the tiny amount of default accel that's on my Xai when using low sense.

And yeah I play Quake, but not a lot since my net doesn't work very well nowadays

The accel on the Xai (which is a tiny amount IMO) is small enough that I don't need to use accel that I would have used in cl_mouseaccel anyway plus it allows me to use it in other games. Honestly, if there was an accel fix released for the Xai, I don't know if I would actually use it because I like how it behaves. My point with the Xai is that the only time it positivity accels for me is if I'm doing really fast 180s, which... kinda is what I want... fast 180s. The accel is so small anyway that it doesn't bother me

Which is my point about the Kinzu. It would be easy to get used to the accel, but it's not for me, so I'd rather frankenmouse it up by putting in a sensor that behaves more like something I like and without prediction. Might even strip the cord and replace it with thin electrical tape or something so it's like the 3G Deathadder.

You don't need a full swipe to get neg accel (and notice it) as it's likely occurring only after a few inches at that velocity. What's relevant is WHEN does the negative accel begin to kick in and how quickly it magnifies. Would need a more precise test and graphs to show this.

As for the accel, when I bought this mouse ages ago, I was actually using 0.1 accel, and it just pissed me off so much. WIth a higher sense it feels kind of bareable; and yeah, kinzu + good sensor would be the best mouse around imo :)

Dunno if it's any different tbh. I e-mailed Steelseries just to ask but I doubt it's any different since it takes same software etc as the new one.

But yeah, gonna do a frankenmouse job on it and put a different sensor in. Would be damn nice. Just trying to figure out which would be the best sensor option (only gonna use 400dpi sensors)

Well no, it works for anything really. If you're using in_mouse 2 (I think) then it'll go by the windows sens multipliers otherwise it'd just be 1.0

You got the Kinuz with the black scroll wheel I believe that is the beta version of the Kinuz.

Its not beta version its some oem version with no box.

I had that one when it was out around Oct/Nov 09 I think.

I was pwning everyone in ET with it.
That time drivers were 1.0.7 and it was very nice mouse with my dethadder glides on it.

Then I decided to install 1.0.10 and it messed everything up I contacted SS and they wanted me to send that mouse to them. It took a month to get RMA my mouse. :<<

Got one with box and braided cord which was not as good as black scroll wheel. Cord was too heavy for mouse and it didnt feel same as rubber cord.

I dunno where you can finds the OEM version but with the Kinuz I have (white).
The Stock feet are terrible it's like dragging your foot across the carpet.
Drivers are poor and the positive acceleration.
and like you said the cable is to heavy but it wasn't to much or a problem for me because I have a mouse bungee.

kinzu @ 800dpi @ 500hz @ noDrivers @ QLsens 0.8 winSens 6/11 accel 0.12 sensCap 2.4 pitch 0.020 (~55[?]cm+/360° w/o accel, maxSens[sensCap] ~10-15[?]cm/360°) = fine

this is how i proceed to adjust the sens/accel :

i start with sens 0, then i add +0.4 or -0.4. Sens 0.4 is too low for me, so i try 0.8 (~55cm+/360°), which is fine but ONLY with mouseAccel [on]. If i don't play with any mouseAccel then my QL sens is set to eihter 1.2 (~40cm+/360°) or 1.6 (25-30). I could play with sens 2.0 or even 2.4 but still feel a bit too high for my taste atm, quite hard for long range rails or fair LG fights. And my hand isn't used to med-high sens, so somtimes i feel uncomfortable and... it can hurt :P.

about mAccel, obviously i start at 0 then add +0.04 or -0.04. 0.04 accel is a bit too low for my taste, basically it becomes interesting @ 0.08. I would probably use 0.08 with sens 1.2, but it feels like it's better with 0.12 @ sens 0.8 (i like when the sens is very/ultra low, but only with med-high accel & sensCap [so that i have more control over the accel). I'm playing with these mouse's settings for almost 2 weeks now (very/ultra low sens + med-high accel & sensCap set to high sens), and it feels pretty nice. Dunno if i'll stick with it tho, cuz sometimes i miss the "simple" feeling of low-med sens without accel etc. Still need more testing to make up my mind i guess.

my monitor is a samsung syncMaster 797mb (CRT) @ 17". Playing with 1024x768 @ 100hz @ 125fps atm. The pitch is 0.20mm (that's why, when i play with mAccel, i set m_pitch to 0.020)
used to play with 800x600 res, so that i could have 120hz, but everything is a bit more clear @ 1024, and i'm not sure if the extra +20hz really make a huge difference tbh... And somehow, the "floaty & light" feeling of the kinzu @ 1024 doesn't bother me, actually it's even the opposite... So dunno, mainly placebo effect i guess ?

used to play with a razer krait before the kinzu, and yep, you need some time to adapt for one mouse to another (and not only cuz of the different shapes there), but once you used to your new mouse, really it's fine.
started to play quake back in the day with a random logitech mouse (<3ed the shape, tho) on a func mousepad (the small ones that slide a lot), then bought a mx310 (logitech, didn't really like the shape, my hand started to hurt after some time mainly cuz of the little "holes" on the sides of the mouse), then switched to diamondback (razer, the old one, very good mouse, but could be more comfortable :P), then copperhead (razer, shit mouse, bad shape, lazer sensor [couldn't even play with low sens cuz of the skips :/], then habu (microsoft/razer, overall shit mouse, too big [at least for me, cuz i like med/small mouses better], lazer sensor [same sensor than the copperhead], no grip at all), then krait (razer, basically old version of the salmosa, very good mouse but... after some time playing my hand used to hurt...), and finally the kinzu (good shape, ok/good/fine sensor, sexy looking mouse, cheap, simple, light, no drivers needed).

overall i'm satisfied with this mouse, i'm aware that it's not the perfect mouse, but at least it doesn't have any major flaw like in any of my previous mouses.
btw, who cares if it's hard to draw a dick on ms paint lol, are you playing quake with paint ? Stop this pos/negAccel/paint obsession already lol, you all noobs anyways, i don't even need your perfect sensor perfect shape perfect dpi mouse to own you. And btw, after all these years of playing you should be ware of the fact that quake isn't only about 6000dpi mouse aim... The Kinzu's angle snapping gets more and more evident the more I use it. Find it really snagging [or however you want to say it] when I try to move diagonally.

I never bought much into the hype around prediction. Sure, I prefer without but the Kinzu is quite restricting (which is why I want to replace the sensor)

a few years ago i used to play on a samtron 19" CRT, 640x480 120Hz, logitech mx300, no setpoint, sens 2, accel 0.2

enemy territory and q3 ra3, was the most perfect feeling i ever had ingame.

Nowadays, samsung snymaster 940B @ 60Hz with intellimouse 3.0 same sens same accel... does not compare in the slightest....

mx300 was superb coming of a MS intellipoint explorer 3.0
then i moved to a G5 with max weights @ 800dpi -> logitech G1 -> explorer 3.0 again, now i'm considering a g500
never liked Razers offerings, the shape is just too freaky, random led thingies cutting into my fingers/palm, drivers were sub-par

negative accel etc never was a problem with any of those, i never overclocked the USB freq. either

closest i've come to the old-school felling of mx300 @ 120Hz has been a G9 @ 800dpi

I have read about a small trick on HLTV.org.
Basicly it says if you set your Kinzu's CPI values to one of the following combinations it will reduce the acceleration noticeably:
1) CPI1:400 CPI2:800
2) CPI1:800 CPI2:1600
3) CPI1:1600 CPI2:3200
My first thought was that's it's complete bullshit but well who knows. Could you try this Zeriton? (sent you a pm too guess you didn't notice)

Also I'm waiting for a Kinzu to be shipped, looking forward to try it and hopefully it will have the 1.0.1.07 firmware so we can check the rumors about the newer firmwares.
Think it will be small for my hand anyways, using IME 3.0 at the moment (won the Kinzu on a contest so will see what happens when it actually arrives:P)

Yeah I saw that same thread on HLTV and tried it out. I had it set identical on all 3 profiles with 400/400, 500hz, right handed etc. Tried out switching all the profiles to 400/800 and it's a tiny bit better, but still fairly noticeable.

And yeah, tell me about the 1.0.1.07 firmware because I dunno what the difference would be :P

The Kinzu is considerably smaller then a 3.0. At least for me anyway since I got fairly big hands I feel the need to have to claw grip it

If I move reasonably fast it accels a tiny bit. Very fast it negatively accels and moves down and moderately fast it positively accels... Very weird...

Second edit: okay it gets weirder. On a qck heavy the accel and angle snapping is very heavy but when I use my icemat it's almost gone..

I just can't understand why these companies can't use a trusted sensor in their mice. Don't know what sensor did the old DeathAdder have but I never had tracking issues with that (switched to 3.0 after the right click broke and there were only the new 3.5G version in the stores).

Ok I try to explain how 1.0.7 is better.
When Kinzu released it has algorithm or you can say firmware which released by sensor manufacturer.
When you install 1.0.7 it will only help you toggle dpi and assign buttons etc but same default firmware settings polling rate. Which is very playable.

As soon as you install 1.0.10 software SS adds high prediction unstable polling rate for 1600 / 3200 dpi and it installs flash memory of Kinzu. So if you plug that mouse to any other pc it will retain 1.0.10 software settings and I am not that clever to get access to Kinzu's flash memory and delete those settings.

So whenever you get Kinzu never install 1.0.10 software or I would say do not install software. Just toggle profiles from cpi buttons. Or if you want to assign buttons install 1.0.7.

Yes they will replace it with no problem it took me about 2 months to replace my Kinzu. But then I fucked that one too by mistakenly installed 1.0.10 again. :))
I didn't bother to contact them for another one and ripped feet off opened and tried to put Salmosa in it. Didnt work that one either. :)

I have kinzu from a year ( how long you had) and I loved it. Recently I have to format my pc and installed latest software 1.0.10. Since them I am facing problem of unstable polling rate at 1600 and 3200 dpi and mouse skipping pixels in both dpi settings. You tried to plug mouse to another computer and getting same problem. Help me replace the mouse. (They know mouse has that problem they will RMA it with no problem)

It could make sense though, the Xai also seems slightly different when using a CPI that can be divided by 90. I figured this out after checking the Avago website, which stated that the sensor can be set in steps of 90, rather then 1.

At a clanmates house, we hooked up 2 Xai's, one having 1260 cpi (14*90) and another one 1300 dpi. The first one was slightly more responsive and consistent then the 1300 dpi one.

So my guess would be that, in order to be able to increase the CPI in steps of 1, some kind of interpolation technique is used.

Either way, I've got both the Xai and the G500, the pos accel on the G500 is immense, on the Xai it's barely noticable.

Dont install anything I had 2 Kinzu and if you want to install drivers.
Install 1.0.7 drivers. Never install 1.0.10 or 1.0.9.

Remember 1.0.7 just useful for toggle dpi and polling rate and profiles.
No other change in firmware or flash.

The round circles you made will be SQUARE if you install 1.0.10 drivers and you will never able to get back old settings. 1600 and 3200 dpi will be skip all the time. Other lots of bugs. STAY AWAY FROM 1.0.10

You can play with little bit acceleration. Kinzu works great out of box.

does anyone know the differences between the original kinzu and the new red one? i tested my friend's original kinzu for a while and i really liked the feel of it although it was slightly small but still ok comfort wise. thinking of getting myself a red one if it's a better version.

if it was fairly small for you than I suggest choosing the totally superior xai instead of the kinzu

Afaik it's only the Omron Japan D2F-01F switches instead of the D2FC-F-7N besides the different coating (should be the same as Ikari Optical).

original kinzu has TTC switches, but thats no remarkable difference imho.

Hold down dpi switch for 3 seconds and it will change profile.
Thats the only way to change dpi. No option to change polling rate.
